Thanks for stopping by. Click image for increased detail.

Very nice Rick. The background gives a feeling that the rider is emerging from the past.

Hi Diane and thanks. I would like to get out to the Big Bend area of West Texas as there are some beautiful formations but, alas, 575 miles and 8 or 9 hours away .... definitely not a day trip.

April 21 sunset along Interstate 35 traveling between West and Dallas.

Texas Department of Public Safety officers go over plans to escort residents into the restricted zone to check on their belongings.

West, Texas. The US and Texas flags are held aloft via a fire trucks extension ladder.
-
Residents of West begin lining up to be escorted by state police to gather belongings from their homes. The line of vehicles stretched over a mile long. Groups of twenty five vehicles at a time were escorted to the restricted zone and allowed about an hour to inspect their homes and gather belongings. Volunteers from SBTC provided packing boxes to the residents as they waited for their escort.

Non-potable water available near Main and Oak streets.

This south facing store front at left has had its windows boarded up do to the explosion which was one mile North of this location. CEN-TEX, a roofing contractor from Waco, Texas came to West and boarded up the shattered storefront windows in the downtown area. Lots of people and companies from neighboring towns donating their assistance.

Turn East from here to get to West.

I have seen this photo a few times and never stopped to comment. It works so well in black and white and I love the tree growing from the tracks to the right. Seems like there is a story to tell with this one. Nice work Phil.

Daisy looks like a big, lovable and silly dog - her belly needs to be scratched.
-
I like this one Diane. A great moment to document.
-
The trees are so amazing down south, so much character and the Spanish moss reminds me of beards on old men.
-
Wonderful work Linda and very creative. Nice to see your back at it.
-
Thanks Linda - I prefer this one also. She is looking after her young son who is at the ground below.

I also spied this via the thumbnails at the bottom of a page. I have often thought that Taiwan should be one of my destinations and you have reenforced that thought. The light has an appeal and your framing works quite well.
-
The stories that goal could tell ... I like the composition and toning quite well. Nice work Ilia.
-
Thank you Ilia, I appreciate your thoughts on this. I like the grey as well but will now consider re-framing to put it in a new perspective.
-
Thank you David and Bill I appreciate your thoughts. As for these two guys ... it beats sitting behind a desk all day.
-
Upgrades being made to a nearby cell tower. Hoping for a better signal!

I am interested in your thoughts regarding the composition/framing. I
have room to spare but have cropped down to 16:9 as it appealed to me.
Also, how do you feel about the color? Does it work for you or would
you adjust the saturation and or vibrance in another direction.
Anyways, I appreciate your thoughts and recommendations.

Excellent Lex. The image really speaks and your words bring the story home. I have been following these neighborhood scenes of yours recently and like a good book I find myself eager to turn the next page.
With this image I think that a followup image taken a little less than two months from now (at 4:09 am) might tell a quite different story - perhaps.

Any particular significance to world peas beginning in Canada's maritime provinces?
Yup - I used frozen instead of fresh.
