  1. I'm standing behind your eye, looking at the stairs, imagining what makes you take this image, here, and now.

Why this angle, and at this position, not any other, and I'm scared because, for me not much adds up!

It's the foreground diagonal handrail, and the matchup with the left walls lower diagonal handrail - that's the foundation for me...that ties up the bits which don't work. That's the bit which 'pulls' me down...and engages me with the lower ground, and the turn to the right, not the left, which one would perhaps think at the first instance....

The bigger expanse at the bottom is to the right, therefore, right it is....and you know...I've wandered down the stairs, and turned right, and I've walked my eye across the WHOLE of your image....that's what I get - and that's what frightens me!

A very enticing image - powerful, deeply drawing, and, simple.....

    How do you do it...?

Best regards to you and yours Patricia, I'm SO glad you stepped through my sight....

I can't believe the tonal range in this image - I don't think I've ever seen such latitude working so well !

It's such a wide expanse of tone that I lose the subject in your sky, and sand...not a ctiticism, just a mesmerised observation of it's hiding - almost camoflaged within the background..

On my 'Yellowfeet' image, which you commented on, you mentioned dodge/burn to accentuate the egret. Looking through you PF, and landing on this, I have to ask, is this an image which has some dodge/burn, because it FEELS just so wonderfully worked..?

Again - no badness here, just wonder, and enjoyment..you did good with me!

many thanks Patricia, for your helpfulness here at PN.

Many thanks for your intersting comments....

It's funny that what you point to, I see NOW, but not when I produced this image! Which is, of course, the reason I love theCritique forum, and the wonderful people, such as your good self, whom are able to offer greatly considered, and extremely helpful comment!

I'm surprised about the yellow cast which you refer to, because it IS THERE, but I dodn't see it!....and my borders, plain black is my preference, IS TOO large...you did it again!

I'm reviewing the image in my head, and the improvements are all as you say, so MOO is now not JUST your 'OO' !!

Thanks again Patricia - I'll return the favour, and know that I'm not far from good image production, but still not perfect!

I'm very greatly appreciative of your time...many thanks!

Many thanks for your time in rating my picture...it's greatly appreciated..!

I particularly like the very dark water here on this image, it's an effect I have only managed the opposite of..!

    Best regards to you,

I like this - it's similar to some treatments I've been using too - I love the complete 'wash-out'....it's different to mine, because I remove all the colour too!

Well spotted, and captured, and excellent PS work!

    Keep this up!!

    Best regards,

Thanks for the comments - and the BW version is already in hand...just not happy yet with the iamge as it stands here - I may post it, or I may return and get a fresh B/W image !!

Cheers to you again - best regards to you!

Well, for this one I'd be inclined to crop some from the left side - it's a little too untidy for me.

I may also, at the time of taking the image, perhaps, have looked farther up/down the stairs, and at a slightly lower angle, because I think the stair support looks interesting too.

My crop is only to show what I like - and many others don't like what I like (at least when I check my ratings anyhow!)

I hope help with this, and the other comment...please feel free to add your thoughts here too!

    best regards,

I'm really interested to know what you like about this image!

I get a feeling that it's the harshness of the rocks, and the texture of the timber....but I think you can have captured a much better image with a little thought...I'm only trying to help here!

For me, there is too much 'blown' white area, and the rest of the image has no real dark black, which would add some dramatic detail.

I'd love to know.,can you return there, and redo another...?

Please feel free to email me - I'm eager to chat about this image!!

Best regards, and no offence meant here!

I like this image, but I wonder if you can reduce the impact of the edge of the floor/wall...?..perhaps move your model into the middle of the room, and use a much larger aperture...?

This wouls allow a much sharper focus too.

It's be interesting to have some alternate views from around her too, front on/rear on, from above....

Just my thoughts - you did ask!

    best regards,

    Crabbing

          1

Crabbing is a group effort here on the river Arun. People, young and old,

hang their small nets, filled with bacon as bait, and haul up crabs.

It's a wonderful past-time, and last weekend, the warm weather pulled

many people out, for what may be the last good weekend before winter..
