@John...That was a lot to type out man....I dont know what i want at this point an as i have been drinking know even less of the direction to go....Its very frustrating and really the ist is my best friend...My first digital....If i got the K20D it would give me the second camera i need to shoot weddings,second camera for the second shooter which would be Jordan...I cant rent a second one...2 reasons...Theres NO ONE in the area where i live that rents cameras....And i dont have any credit where i could rent one......I have the money...So...I will think on it more...I want what i decide to be something that i gave enough thought to and have no regrets....Thanks again for the input and on the cost of that venue.....

@Craig....No worries man...I have been through hell the last 2yrs plus Melissa being killed in a senseless random act of violence,shot at close range by a shotgun....My dad,things there...My moms stroke..losing eveything...I use to have a nice Chevy S10 extra cab Vortec 6,baby blue truck...Now i drice a POS 87 subaru wagon that needs a starter....I went to meet with these guys who were interested in having Jordan as a model for their high end rim store that caters to 911's,Lamboghi's (spelling)....She asked me not to drive my car in meeting with them...And when i did these idiots tell me they prefered small chested models.....WTF....Dude did Jordans Double D's just slip past you...IDIOTS.....I didnt say that but i felt like it....Sorry i'm getting off track....Anyway...no worries it just read like more of a hoping i would die there or something....Its all good...Rule of thumb never make it hard for anyone to apologize...Hope to see you round the forum.....

@Tom the images are awesome and lately i have been seriuosly considering hanging things up...Jordan and i have been fighting lately and its just getting to be a bit much....Or maybe its that i'm drinking and my patients are shorter the more i drink...Dunno....

 

@Patrick...Yeah..i try to see both sides of things...Rose has the time she can stop in an check things out...I might just restrict my posting of images to threads i start...Which limits me a lot from participating in other threads with any model images...Theres a comprimise some where....

 

@Tom....While i like the forum posters...The entire kid comment...This forum was,as far as i know not set up with kids in mind...This is a forum for adults....If your 8yr old is coming here theres a assiciated risk....It would be fun to make a thread just for him and limit his viewing maybe to that thread...But if we all started to have to watch things cause of a child lurking,viewing....Thats not the way the forum was set up.....Now...Once in a chat room a kid came in...First i made him get his mom and in voice verify that she knew he was in the room...Then i had him block any idiots that came into voice swearing etc etc...But...The room was not set up with kids in mind.....Maybe the forum would consider adding a section for the younger ones and THAT would be a moderating nightmare....As a former mod i know it would be.....

@Michael...Nice post...Well said as your other post i have seen about the forum....I'd not do erotica but that said i have been asked by some girls to do some girl/girl type images...I just saw the other day a really really nice girl/girl image and i didnt think that could be done....I have shot some erotica...I'd not put my name on it..I'd not make it a habit...Its not something i WANT to do regularly..I dont want my photography to get jaded....Which..When you enter that area of photography it can be very jaded....

 

Bottom line...My work i will always strive to be high end...My nudes will be as i said earlier Epic....I will settle for nothing less and in doing so crush my critics,which is not in referance to anyone here...Maybe Douglas an that porn shot.....My goal is to be a well rounded photographer good at about damn near anything......

 

When i jut nailed these nudes...Got these awesome images that are so incredably powerful....I was so blown away...An i told someone....I will be a photo Jedi...Thats the goal.....I'm not even close right now....I will work at it though every day....

 

Now....Now that my images are potentially being compared to porn...Now i want to post them inline in a thread titled "Pentax InLine Fine Art Images"......View them considering they were shot with a 18-55 at 5.6 and a ist DL body...The model Cabrea is 23 and minimal shoot exp i STILL nailed it....

 

You can call my images crooked...You can call them out of focus....You can say the lights flat..Thats fine an i'll look at that as i should....But...When you start calling my images trashy or porn you have no clue (i back spaced i had a stronger statement typed out).....I have been round the industry a long time...I can post some trashy images..Theres a very clear differance with my images...My biggest fear when i started shooting was that my images of lingerie an such would not have that class edge....I cant stand GWC shooters...They apaul me and i didnt want to be one of them......

 

I am not here in the forum to make waves.....But will stand up for what i believe in be it something from what i post or another person if i believe in what they say.I dont follow popular opinion......When i am wrong i'll back right down...When i offend someone i will apologize directly and accept a apology without question....I am very direct....I am very driven,extremely driven....Photography IS sacred ground....Its not just my camera its a extention of myself,my emotions any more and who i am....In the 2 yrs i have been at it i have changed....I'll change even more in the next 2....Jordan is where i prove myself...Her success.....When i pick up my camera its not a game,not a toy....I have some ways to go yet....I have only been editing for a little more then a year....I am hard core...I am very passionate....hate me thats fine.....But i'm very clear about who i am,what i stand for and where i stand....There are a lot of people who dont have enough spine to be as such and the so called "Being professional" is often used as a excuse by those without the spine to state themselves....Thats the one thing i hate about being so called professional...its not saying what you feel but saying whatever bullshit nessasary to keep the peace...

K....I'm going to respond to all of this with the warning that i am drinking,listing to Hole "Celebrity Skin" cd and really anxious to get to editing some images.....It will though probably take me over a hour to type this all up...Yes i'm that slow of a typer....But Justin...If the thread was labeled in a way to warn people like Artistic Nudes Ahead lol...They could be inline....I mean come on...The mouse does not click itself...The USER has to click on it...Its like the TV changer..If you dont like whats on TV IE. the Jerry Springer show...DONT WATCH IT.....

 

Seriously people...No one forces anyone to click on any of my threads and read them and see Jordans as one person put it "scantely clad images"......THAT is done solely be themselves.....THEY click them.....And if your boss is 10 feet away....Its then my fault if you get into trouble..i dont get that....Espcially if i mark the thread....In all fairness i do post in others threads though.....How long does this hold out...What if other glamour shoters show up here...Are they treated the same?....What if mods restrict picture posting cause of this thread...THAT would most likely kill this part of the forum...The more a forum is restricted and less interactive the less volume it gets..It would only hurt the forum....

 

No input from the mods yet....Which to a point is good they are letting us talk and not interfeiring too much...I was on a forum where every time i turned around a thread was getting locked....Rarely was it because of personal attacks....Some times a good controled argument is good for thought....

@Jemal...Given thought while cleaning up i think i'll get the K20D...I cant sink any lower then i am right now and given the conditions i often find myself shooting in be it landscape or with Jordan what that camera brings to the table would help me a LOT....

 

@Kevin...That might be a possability...I talked tonight for the first time with the person in charge of the show...I have to get him some of my work and if i can convince him that i would be a asset to the event then MAYBE i can get a break...He was really cool though talking to him and he didnt just blow me off like so many have....

 

@Patrick...Thanks for the input,the lens i was convinced to get by the Three Musketeers was the 16 to 50 f2.8 Will kick ass over my current 18 to 55 f5.6

 

@Andrew....The higher ISO for shooting at night and some low light situations like with Jordan...The weather sealedness of the lens an the K20D body as i WILL shoot in the snow or rain...The only way to keep me from shooting is kill me...Thats the only condition i wont shoot in....

 

@Jemal...The superior sensor and weatherized body have me sold on the K20D as well as the 11 point focus the focusing of the ist is really pissing me off lately.....

 

@Javier....Lakers....I have not followed sports.tv or movies in so long....I sit here in my room at the computer or i'm shooting...I shoot thats it...A girl the other day asked me my name..I told her it didnt matter....I'm a photographer and my images are all that matters.....

 

@Javier.....I have submitted to magazines and gotten no response....I dont like to be ignored...So basically yeah...I wont say any more then that...Working on this whole professional concept...I am so deep in debt...Its not a coarse i am pursuing any more...If i get a job my wages right away would be double garnished taking enough of my check theres no way i could get by or ahead...I plan on building up a massive print catalog and leaving that to Jordan...With my limited prints and my open editions she'd be set pretty well....I started my open editions under another name and seperate from my main line...

 

I'm attaching one of my open editions...Sunset at the Marina....The Inn in the background wanted to use it on their web site...I offered them a screaming deal price wise..The response..."Oh we were hoping to just use the image,you'd get credit for it"...Right...You want to use my image,commercially,for free....F*** YOU......What a insult....<div></div>

I have a huge descion to make...I was out of work for a long time taking care of my mom leaving me pretty much

pennyless....I have sold a few images here an there doing some shows but what i have done has been in the wrong

areas....It was cheap to get into and all i could afford....But the price i ask for my images is more on the high end...I

am though on the low end of the higher end market....IE...A Chuck Guildner 12 by 18 starts at around 600...My

limited 12 by 18 Fine Art prints start at $300...And stay there lol...But $300....My limited edition landscapes and

sceenic prints are $100 same size and my open editions are $35 in that size.....

 

K anyway....Heres the choice i am faced with...I was in a accident,had a guy do a road rage on me....I got a

settlement check..Not much but enough to get the K20D and that sweet lens....Heres my chioce i am faced with

though.....

 

Do i....Buy the gear...Or use that money for a show or two to try and get some sales and $$$$ in my

pocket...Now...My cameras a lil over 2 years old,has some hot pixels its not going to get better...In fact i think it was

a used one when i got it...And i have no digital back up for it....So...do i get the gear leaving me again with little

funds...Or do i put that money towards doing a few shows,craft shows or art shows...Something like that....Theres a

home show coming up...Its in a ritzy part of town...The cost is $900 for 3 days...The camera is $850 and the lens is

$700 so if i wanted to do the show i could get just the body...But then i'm still using my sucky 18 to 55 lens on a

great camera....

 

My buddies input was...The economy is in the toilet so even doing the show my sales might not be there.If i got the

gear i'd have gear to get better images then what i struggle to get now..And i'll tell you what shooting at a higher ISO

with the ist sucks ass its grainy as hell....I was at the librarey today and bumped into a fellow Pentax shooter that i

had met at the Farmers market this last year where i had a booth...He was talking about shooting at ISO 1,600 with

his K10D and the K20D is suppose to be better with noise then the K10D...

 

My buddy says to get the gear...I live with my mom and now shes back on her feet...But i live with her,have no life

anyway...I could get a 9 to 5 job but when you do that that greatly kills your photography...My buddies been shooting

for just over 5 years,works full time...In the year plus that i had off i built a bigger portfolio then he had in his 5 years

of shooting...An he's pretty good....

 

The gear is where you make your money...I have sold some prints and some pictures of Jordan,which she loves as

i get that money to her and she signs the images,she does it with a lil heart by her name,such a dork...But the gear

is where you make the money....Do i buy the gear or just try to sell my current print selection which is a bit over 100

images NOT including my open editions and Jordans swimsuit stuff....And having to be factored into this is that if my

camera craps out on me i am done....Till i can sell a bunch on images i'd be dead in the water.....

 

My buddy said to get the gear....Any thoughts from anyone else if you were in this position?....Gear is

vital......OMG...It would be so sweet...I have held the K20D....It took 5 sales people to get it out of my hands lol....

 

But i have to be able to get out an do shows of some kind....I put some of my settlement check into getting some

images framed,museum quality framed,corner tabbed conservation reflective control glass etc etc....Thats for when i

do a show....IF i have the funds to show....<div></div>

Wow....I'll answer all of these in a bit...My minds going in 6 differant directions right now and apparently i have a shoot tomorrow with a dancer i met at the ummm "club" ...I went there looking for a subject to shoot...Dancers make good subjects as they are very comfortable with their bodies...

Andrew valid points...Pictures relate to gear though..If pictures are allowed then they are allowed and done so within what the forum policies allow for....Allowing pictures and picture threads in this area of the forum makes it 10 times more interesting and increases the traffic to this forum...Not allowing pictures would greatly hurt this part of the forum and i think the mods know that,as such they give a lot of leeway....

@Rose....I value you in this Forum...I dont just post Jordans glamour...Look in the "emotions" thread i made.....Jordan has a very full portfolio from jeans an t-shirt stuff to glamour...Head shots everything and not just Jordan i shoot that with a number of models and they respect my work cause it is of the more classy then whats out there....

 

Anyone surfing at work to have expectations that accomidate them,i think thats wrong thinking...Surfing a site should be done on your own time anyway...Thats not to say that i would not surf in a job where i could..I most likely would but would do so understanding that the trouble i walked into doing so would be souly on my shoulders an no one else....As the surfing would be something i could do in my own time....

I thought this thread would get a adverse reaction....People who come to a forum for a period of time often start to feel like they own the forum and have a say in what happens in the forum and who can even post there or driving off new people they dont like...I have seen that as well in other types of forums...

I dont want anyone to not come to this part of the forum due to content..But this is a photography forum...If the rules of the forum allow for such then its allowed...If the forum holders,owners whatever want to design the forum around say Javier's preferances then they contact him and do so....

 

Other wise they have rules set in place and thats how the forum is...Like it or not....Mods are not in place to enforce public or personal oppinion they are in place to enforce the Forum policies and rules....

 

That said....I wont be posting any nudes in this forum....However...As the forum grows you need to look at and understand one day someone might post a nude in the forum....They dont have to cater to Javiers wishes as its not his forum....No offense intened Javier....

 

So yeah....I will not post them here...But in another forum section maybe and post a thread here that i might get some feedback on them from people in this section of the forum...

Tom...Have you considered going to a canvas shop and having something made?....I live near water,water = boats,boats = canvas shops...But as well my mom worked in the canvas industry for 30 years or more...I can go to her old shop and get a screaming deal on something....

 

I would think it would be extremely awkward to have a bag up front like that....I have 2 bags a small over the shoulder one for my camera an then my weatherized main bag a "Tenba" which the Tenba is a back pack style bag....

 

I've not seen a frontal bag like the one you posted....Mine,the one with the shoulder strap is fairly small and has a small hand strap too...Thats how i carry it and its quick access....The bag easily holds the camera with the 16 to 55 lens on it....A spot for extra battery,memory card an lil brush type thing for the lens...Lens kit thats what i mean...

Well i was just wondeing....Are nudes not allowed?.....Not even Fine Art ones if at all?

 

A lot of the American based forums do not allow nudes...In this country we still have issues with nudity unlike most

of Europe and other places where topless beaches raise no eye brows.....

 

I had my first attempt at Fine Art nudes with a 23 yr old model namec Cabrea....They came out 10 times better

then what i thought i could do although some missed the mark of Fine Art they have a very high class look to

them...I was pretty excited...The biggest test i took them to my ultra consrevative neighbors,prespitierians (spelling?)

and i asked his wife if she'd give them a look...She kind of paused an then said ya i'll look....She was looking at

one...Nothing said then came this soft "wow"....."thats amazing"......I was like YES!!!!!!!......For that shoot i was

nervous...Not due to the subject matter but if i could get the image or not..If it would look like just a girl standing

there nakid....

 

As well i was the first photographer that Cabrea had worked with that she liked....The last one she did nudes with

she told me he pulled out a picture of his "ahhm" and showed her...I was like WHAT!!!!......

 

Anyway....I do have one where nothing is showing....Maybe that one could be posted?...

 

In terms of shooting nudes or lingerie that kind of thing what i tell any model and have explained to a few husbands

an boyfriends....Is that you dont even look at the model to much...You have to be focused on what the digital display

is telling you in the camera,whats in frame,a quick look at the edges of the frame...Your concentrating on so many

small details the models not something you have time to sit there an be wowed by....If you dont pay attention to all

the small details an your watching the half nakid girl you get shit for a image....

 

I am trying to streer more an more my shooting to Fine Art type images....Fine Art being the most challenging as

its so very very technical....MOST photographers dont know a lot about Fine Art and could'nt name 5 Fine Art

photographers...Best Fine Art photography magazines out there...Lens Work and Focus.....

 

So.....Let me know if nudes are allowed,i'm thinking they are not...But thats not something thats sensable just in

that its a part of our art....

 

What sickens me is the hacks who call themselves photographers and post cheesy ass shots and

garbage....Theres a huge differance between snap shots or perv shots and a glamour image or lingerie image thats

taken with intent of being not only hot but a outstanding image....

 

Also.....While i have your attention =P Whats requiered to be a mod?...Is it true you have lazers that come out of

your eyes an fry people?And can you do the whole thunder and lightning thing when you talk?....I was a mod on a

site once...I had to delete a person who had become my friend =( He was using racist remarks...I have ZERO

tollerance for racism..He would not stop so....
