A lot of you chaps have patiently waited for this, but this crop just doesn't work for me at all. Any other suggestions for a different crop with a better result?

Completely ethereal. Mega kudos to you guys also for the open discussion that allows a beginner like me to try a technique that produces such beauty. I appreciate it. I love the tree RHS too, really adds to the whole and balances the mass of the LHS.

Great coloration. I'm wondeering if locropping the top 20% would give you a better composition, as currently the picture is chopped in half at the top edgge of your link..? I'm guessing that you wanted to include those little fishes in the water, but not sure they are quite clear enough to carry the viewing interest.

You take shots in some truly beautiful places. I enjoyed looking very much.

It would be interesting to see what it looks like if the background were lightened maybe 30%. If I knew how to do that I would attpempt it to see. at the moment i think the background kind of "fights", tonally, with the very delicate wings and legs of this insect. But i like it very much in a porfolio of good pictures.
  1. ..I feel like the Wizard of Oz coming out from behind his curtain, LOL. Its this pic (attached,) mashed through PS distort/waves/square at some not very regular positions on the sliders. Similar pic of same piece of material in "threads" section in my portfolio. I've used the same technique on one of Shawn Shawhan's pictures in a section in the portfolio, just to see how it came out, and will try it on his ship's door knob pic soon too.

I like it, the colors especially. Woudl i buy it as a post card (my acid test) ..probably. So gets a good vote from me. Sorry Michelle not be more scientific, except to say the background and the butterfly echco each other's colors, which is what makes it hold together as an image for me.
  2. I think this is a wonderful photograph. Luminous and full of color. I very much like the back lit leaves and the background just dark enough for it to show up the foreground. I am not surprised its one of your favorites.
