Dusk

I do not know why this happens, but I've noticed it in some of my darker foreground sunrise and sunset photos. If you go look at this photo in John's gallery there is more detail in the foreground, then there is in this version above. Enlarge it and there is even more. Maybe still not to everyones taste, but the difference is very noticeable.
  2.
Thanks for the clarification Laura! There are NO photos anywhere on my "test account" (other than the bubble picture) Glenn setup for me to "look around" (Glenn's words) I also don't see "set cover photo" anywhere. NO BIG DEAL...honestly! I'll just wait for the reset to occur in another week or two so I can use my real account. It was "my" mistake and I'll live with it! :-)

  3.
I think I've figured out why Martin and I can't change the "bubble" photo. Laura's screen shot looks like she's uploaded some of her photos to the new site. I have NOT...therefore there is nothing to change it to?

  4.
Thanks for clearing things up for us Laura! I've only been looking around on a test account Glenn "graciously" set up for me because I'm an idiot! My word NOT Glenn's! I am patiently waiting for a reset to occur so I can "do" things on the site.
The bubbles would not be my choice for the photo in that spot, but they don't bug me too bad. I can't see any "blue box with belt buckles" anywhere. I've hovered over everything else and don't come up with a "Set Photo Cover". I'm guessing I just don't have that with this test account...I can wait! :-)

  5.
From the ashes, sprouts renewed life.
Lightning started many fires in my state early last month and they are still burning out of control. The largest in state history, the Okanogan Complex fire took my younger brothers' home and everything he had two weeks ago on top of a mountain where he was enjoying retirement "off grid". When we were allowed to go back in, we did. The fire burned so hot in places, even metal melted. I took numerous photos to document things and was shocked to discover this one and only squash plant, where his garden once was.

  6.
Martin,
Since nobody has answered your questions in many hours, I'll take a stab at them.

1. Vibe. NO idea, wondered about that one myself.

2. Admire. I'm "guessing" it's what it says. Somebody admires it, similar to a facebook "like".

3. No, they don't exist now on PN.

Your second unanswered post. Photo.net 2.0 is NOT "live". As I understand it, it's not even really in beta form yet. Pre-beta if you will. Only "some of us" get to see and use it. With that in mind, submitting a photo for critique (if it's even possible) would be pretty much pointless, IMO

  7.
I really like the look and feel of the new site. Have not found any hiccups or glitches. Things "seem" to load faster.
Gordon, I could be wrong, but I think only paid subscribers got the invite.

  8.
@ Glenn, additional info that may or may not be helpful for you to know about my issue. I am running a window 8.1 computer with Chrome as my browser. I was over at my son's house earlier today and had him try to log me into the new beta site. He's on windows 10 with an Edge browser. Same "Your email or password was incorrect. Please try again." message as I get here at home. I then had him try to log into my account on the existing photo.net (this) site. Worked perfect!

  9.
Well I have a different issue. The link works for me. Used the 2 codes, so far so good. But then I can't sign in... says email or password not valid. OK I'm an idiot and have forgotten my password as I let it be stored on site in the past. I ask for it to be reset. Get the email, change passwords sign in here (old site) everything is cool. Go to new version 2.0, same problem....invalid...invalid...invalid....

  10.
I might be interested also, but would need to know the answers to the questions asked above. I live in central WA state.

  11.
As always, state and country can and usually do matter in all things legal. I could be wrong, as I'm no lawyer, but I do believe Howard has given you some bum advice. Star Wars products are a heavily licensed product...if I'm using the right terminology here. If you were going to post the photos on a personal FB page, I'd agree with the advice. If they saw it there you'd probably get a takedown notice through FB. But on your business page on FB, where it's clear you made money on their registered trade mark without paying them first? I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole! IF you really want to do this you NEED to consult a lawyer...IMO

  12.
A female Painted Turtle decided a corner of my property would be a good place to lay her eggs.

  13.
Fishermen do this all the time. Fish up close, and good distance behind for the person, usually at arms length is good for making the fish appear larger than it is. In this case substitute a crocodile and more people and a greater distance between them.

  14.
I "think" the only "car ferry" service back the the USA from Vancouver Island now days is from Sidney, through the San Juan Islands to Anacortes. I believe you can do a straight shot through or stop at one or more of the islands. I do not know how customs is dealt with, but Washington State Ferries is sure to have that info on their web site. I used to live on that side of the state but now I live on the East slopes of the Cascades. Since you have a car, you can add to your list of sights to consider; The Aquarium(no car needed), Woodland Park Zoo, the Arboretum, both Museums, The Underground Tour(no car needed), that's all I can think of "in Seattle" right now. Is your return trip home via I-90/I-82/I-84 locked in stone? Seattle to Yakima via Chinook Pass is MUCH more scenic and will take you through a corner on Mt. Rainier NP.

  15.
Can't really help you out with Vancouver, haven't been up there in decades. The obvious sights to see in Seattle with only one day, would be, Pike Place Market and the Space Needle at the Seattle Center. There are other attractions at the Center, some new(er), some left over from the Worlds Fair in 62. I am assuming you're doing one of the many Alaska cruises, so I'll leave out the suggestion of a ride across the Sound on a ferry and no car for you, so that leaves out some much better sights IMO. Might also help me and others if we knew you guys had a full day and night before you fly out of Sea-Tac. Oh, and a walk along the waterfront and a meal is nice too.

  16.
Well, I'm glad it was of some help to you Stan. Now go out and enjoy that camera!

  17.
Welcome to photonet Stan. Remember, google is your friend and "often" (but not always) faster than waiting for an answer here. Here is a link to the page with the info you seek in the manual for your camera I found in a 20 second google search.
http://www.manualslib.com/manual/555494/Canon-Eos-600.html?page=48#manual

  18.
After voting for a photo, if you go back to vote again, any photo you've voted for will lack the "vote for this photo" selection.

  19.
I am not on facebook anymore so I can't be certain how current my info is for you. But there is/was a group on facebook called photo stealers (or something close to that name) that went after photographers such as the one you're faced with. Pretty much made life unbearable for them!

  20.
Country in which you reside and/or work could make a difference in applicable law. But, with the info given so far it sure sounds like you are in a work for hire situation to me. "in-house photographer" and "paid by my boss to take the photos". Your employer would own the copyright to said photos....but I am NOT a lawyer!

  21.
For some reason, I can not see the OP's photo. Steven's photo does however, so I'm guessing the OP photo is pretty much the same. As a former bush pilot I would NOT fly with another pilot that was "always" looking straight ahead. That pilot is sooner or later a dead pilot. With that said, where the pilot is looking could very well alter the story said photo is trying to tell.

  22.
Hi David,
Thanks for the info! Although having been a bush pilot in my former life, I do understand the phenomenon. I have just "never" seen one "here" so far East of the crest....BUT it's been a weird winter (or lack there of) here this year! Absolutely LOVE your wildlife photos! Keep up the good work and thanks again for trying to help educate me...I do appreciate it.

  23.
Lenticular clouds are not unusual over the higher peaks in the Cascade Range, especially over Mount Rainier. However, I can not recall ever seeing one this far east (20 miles?) of the Cascades. I watched them all afternoon and took some photos. Then just after sunset, this scene presented itself last night.
