Is the SB-28 flash fully compatable with the D100 camera?
What can't be done with this combination and why?
Thanks!

>(They COULD have designed it to use little teensy interchangeable lenses up close to the sensor, rather than 35mm lenses, but then people with a lot of Nikon lenses couldn't use them).
Thank-you for explaining this. So Nikon made both routes available - point and shoots with mini-lenses and SLR's that use Nikkor lenses but with a catch or two.
Why not use a 35mm sensor? It is a price issue?

You can try asking the folks at Helix in Chicago. Sounds like an email question to me.<P>

BTW, I'm not "anti-Nikon", actually I'm a Nikon fanatic. But I do
realize that not every product is a winner and I'd like to help
everyone else out there avoid those lemons.<P>
Thanks!<P>

Can't the lens designers just change the size of the barrel, etc. to aim the image for a smaller target/image sensor ?
-
Any chance that anyone out there is manufacturing lenses for the
D100, etc. that doesn't have that 1.5 x zoom effect?<P>
I want a 28mm lens that acts like a 28mm lens.<P> Is that too much
to ask? <P>
Thanks! <P>

I have yet another "series E" question.
What lenses work with the Nikon EM camera? My brother has one and I
was thinking of giving him some of my old Nikon mount vivitar lenses
for Christmas. (a 135mm and a 200mm if memory serves) I'm
guessing that they're AI lenses but it is possible that they're non-
AI. (I'll need to check.) Will AI or non-AI lenses work with a
Nikon EM?
I'm also looking for a cheap flash unit for that Nikon EM. Any
suggestions?
Thanks!

Are there lenses out there that don't have that 1.5 effect with the D100?

Have you ever purchased (or used) a Nikon lens (or generic) that
failed to meet your expectations?
Please share what the lens was and why it didn't meet up to your
standards.

Thanks for explaining that. My Nikon F has a lightmeter built in and I just wasn't aware of one that didn't have that.
-
Actually, if memory serves, the Nikon F did use a battery...or two.
They were the button cells and used for the built in light meter.
-
If you use a Nikon D100 with an AI manual focus lens, does its
operation most resemble:
FE (automatic exposure with manual focus)
FM (manual exposure with working lightmeter - you set the aperture
and shutter speed, it tells you if you're close)
F with a dead battery - no clues on exposure.
Thanks!

Are there Nikon rebates these days?

I have a 100mm Nikon series E lens. Will this work with the D100?
What do I need to know about this?
Thank-you!

I really like the close-up focusing feature that the Nikon Coolpix
cameras offer. Does the D-100 also offer this feature? What would be
the ideal lens for the budget minded that would do close-up
photography well?
I have the 28-200mm zoom (for my 35mm) which doesn't do close-ups as
far as I can tell.
Thanks!

Carry-on rules depend on which airline you're flying<P>
By Jane Engle Los Angeles Times<P>
Sample from article:<P>
I encountered this regulatory turbulence while trying to track down a
revision to carry-on rules that the TSA quietly posted on its Web
site, www.tsa.gov, Nov. 19, a week before the Thanksgiving travel
crush. The rule said:<P>
"You may carry one (1) bag of photographic equipment in addition to
one (1) carry-on and one (1) personal item through the screening
checkpoint. The additional bag must conform to your air carrier's
carry-on restrictions for size and weight."<P>
A few days later, the rule acquired this warning: "Air carriers may or
may not allow the additional carry-on item on their aircraft." <P>
