I was not confused; I immediately understood that it was a composite. The brightness levels gave it away.

What need is there for such ghastly sharpening? I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate it.

It might be okay without the phony texture. If you want to degrade the image you will have to do more than that. The absence of shadow detail is annoying too.
