thanks for help, sorry for not being clear, I think I have to read the manual.

Can the canon 430EX flash work as "fill flash" with canon G9 and do I have to
turn the "on camera" flash off for this?
-
if I were you I would order the 5D with 24-105 L lens

I am a serious amateur as well, and while I have been gradually improving my skills over the years shooting with higher end DSLRs and L glass I have come to realize that I don't need it ( expensive equipment). So I ended up selling everything and getting myself a Canon G9. If you have a "gift from God", and you are not a PRO, there is no need for expensive camera and lenses. BElieve me I ve seen stunning photographs taken by some crappy Kodak P$S cameras, and a lot of crap taken by 5ds and expensive glass. Better spend the money on something else.

for photo editing you need just the opposite, a monitor with lower contrast ratio, that's why all these expensive ones do not have high contrast ratio, this is important for video/gaming purposes

Someone once said that the difference between a SLR and a P&S is like the difference between having a real girlfriend and a blow-up doll.
Some how "it just ain't the same
huh, well said...

It is pretty long time to create a same frame in PS for say 10 or 20 same sized pictures!
create one frame to your taste, but record it as an action and apply it to the other pictures.

but there is always a trade off, you lose some useful image area

Yes, it looks like keystoning, and a slight barrel. Here's how to avoid and fix it. http://www.tndtownpaper.com/Volume5/photographing_the_house.htm

The picture looks very nice and I would not do anything.

Andrew, please, post a sample picture

to add to the comment above: if it always appears on the sides of the frame there is not much you can do about it, the lens has great ammount of barrel distortion at wide angle. You can fix it to some extent in Photoshop or DX optix pro. But people usually dont, this is the beauty of the wide angle.

Examples of keystoning and barrel distortion:

canon g7

this is not a slow shutter speed or blur from the hand shake for sure. The foreground is perfectly sharp. Most likely focusing error. Shoot the non moving object at the same settings and see what happens.

never mind, I think I 've fixed it. Uninstalled the Catalyst Control Canter and left the ATI drivers only, seems to be working fine.

I have Spyder2Express that I have always used to calibrate my monitor. I
recently swapped the videocard from ATI 9800Pro to ATI 9800XT. After I
recalibrated the monitor and applied correct profile and restarted computer
everything seemed to be OK, but for 10-20 sec only, then the color data gets
reset by apperantly the videocard, even though it displays the correct color
profile in the <properties>. I have never had it with the old videocard, not
sure what I should do to disable this override. I do not have adobe gamma
running either. Any thoughts of what might be wrong or how to fix it?
