My opinion on this is that the first and second generation dslr cams are going to be absolete in contrast with the old slr's wich could be used for many years 10-30 years with maybe a few repairs ... they could be sold however for a good price ... the early dslr's are not.
I waited until this year to buy a dslr because I didn't want to spent my money on something that would be soon absolete ... the latest 6-10-12 mp dslr could be here to stay for some time to come and are probably worth to buy used ... if your lucky you could buy an excellent professional dslr ...

Oh, one more thing ... you could maybe ask a copy of his passport to be e-mailed ...

The moment you hear Nigeria ... hands off ... they find all kinds new scams. And now with the availabilty of e-mail and internet it's rampant.
Just forward your e-mail to authorities in the US so they are aware that there is a new scam doing the rounds ... they can maybe contact Nigeria to get a hold of the IP number and internet cafe it's been sent from ... it's a crime in Nigeria too to do this.

It's as many people already said on this subject on different boards, look at RAW as your negatives that you keep and back-up, from there you can make tiffs or Jpegs whenever needed ...

I just bought this vosonic, http://www.vosonic.com/index.php?PA=product&id=26&kind_id=4 , portable USB card reader, HD.
It runs on batteries too.
Had it with me on a short 4 day trip and it worked well. I had 5 GB SD, CF and xD mem with me but still had to copy it to the device because I just shot so many pics ... the good thing about ... the HD is changeable and the battery is recharge Li-ion ... the downside, there is no LCD display to view the images, only to see the progress of the copying ...

I had Minoltas for many years and switched to Sony because of the lenses and I liked what I saw ... am pretty much impressed about the Alpha I own and hope they'll introduce a full frame body soon.
-
I used to own two Dynax 8000i bodies with lenses, 13 years old or something, with lenses (Minolta AF) and one Sygma zoom (AF) and they all work on my new Sony alpha 100 ... although as posted the focal lenngths are not the same as with 35mm ... multiply by 1.5 approx.
Autofocus with the new lenses (kit) is more silent and faster and they are not as heavy as the old ones.
1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2sec? Does exposure add up linearly?
