It does not have flash exposure comp.
1D, 1DMII, 1Ds and 10D do.

It is my understanding that the D-Rebel is able to take full advantage of all the 550's capabilities. The charts I am looking at put the D-Rebel in the same "class" as the 1Ds, 1D, 10D, D60 and D30 when discussing compatibility with the 550EX. Of course, the maximum flash sync is only 1/200 but it can take advantage of high-speed sync with all EX series flashes.

I like to keep hood on all the time as protection from bumping the front element. I do not use a filter for protection.

Me again. Juste heard from him - never mind. He used it on his 1D (and 1D MII). Fits those. Don't know about the 10D. Good luck.

ooops, I meant my other Nikon - the N90 - not the F5.
-
I had one from my once owned Nikon F5 which I gave to a friend who has a 10D cuz I think it looked like it would fit, interestingly enough. Not sure, but I think it worked. I will see what I can find out on his results.

oooops, of course I meant:
Summer of 2003.
sorry

My 10D, bought back in Summer of 2004 (and since sold), did not have the time date battery installed.
I had to unpackage it, unscrew the cover on bottom of camera and install it.

You call the president garbage?

I think $2,400 is a fair price. I bought a used one recently for $2,500 and have never looked back (after I sold my 10D). A friend sold his 1D for $3,500 on eBay last month. I guess it all depends on what you want or need out of life, but, yes, the 1D is certainly and easily worth $2,400.

Yahbut,
Don't some IS lens have an additional switch for, when mounted on tripod, IS still works (or does not come into play)? Certainly for such things as panning?

Bob L: Yes, definitely Boston. Corner of Berkeley and ____ St.(not sure) but looking south towards John Hancock Tower.

The small print at the bottom of the ad also says, "Photos taken with various EOS equipment."

My solution was to cut to a small size and fold (so it was thick enough to bind) an index card and wedge it in between the extender and body. This solved it.

Eventually I took the stupid thing off anyways as it was just not worth it - catching and hitting on everything and harder to see viewfinder (even after I removed the optics from the extender).

The EP-EX15 is and idea whose time has not come (for me anyway).

Most and best technical articles/write-up I have seen is the three pages covered on IS in EF Lens Work III book (may be in II too, dunno). More than I needed to know. I am just glad it exists and works.

Aljaz,
I think Peter means the 1D not 1Ds. When he says 1Ds he means plural of 1D, i.e. 1D's to show many (the apostrophe).
Anyway, I am interested in hearing more from all on the 10D to 1D "upgrade" path, if it is in fact an upgrade to do so.

Ron, The 10D is a very capable camera and will give you the quality I think you need, per your description.
Good luck - John

Gary,
Good points. As for the Nikon Defocus, have you looked at the Canon EF135mm 2.8 with Softfocus (two levels of softness). I have not myself, but curious as to its desirability.

Thanks - John

Check this out site (Stroboframe, part of Saunders photo group, used to be anyways before bankruptcy?) for cameras/model #'s etc.
You will see some interchangeability even between some Nikon and Canon bodies et al which makes sense since many bodies are similar in bottom dimensions at least.
This thread and site piqued my interest because I remember once giving a friend my N90s anti-twist plate which he then used on one of his Canons. Now I wonder if it would have fit the 10D too.

Ahh, photo.net 2004 is just like photo.net 2003. Ask a good question and get half an answer along with yet another political fool rant like Mike's!

As for home of the brave: it is. Those who serve to protect us in the armed forces for our political fool rants are very brave. Are you? Could you?
