    Auroral Breeze

          10

Thank you Mike and Gail for the vist and the comments.

The best advice I can give when it comes to the aurora (more than equipment or anything else), is patience.  Just keep looking and sooner or later your efforts will pay off.  And the aurora is always worth the time and effort.

    Warm regards,

The selective focus here is outstanding.  The graceful lines and delicate textures are just amazingly beautiful.  To be able to see this tiny work of art and then communicate its story so eloquently takes rare skill and a heart filled with poetry.

I think this is a great portrait.  Somehow you really captured his "personality" (equineality?).  The shallow DOF with the soft background that still yields interesting detail, is perfect... as is the beautiful sky framing him.

This is a wonderful image, with great depth and many layers that lead the viewer deeper into the composition.  The intense color of the foreground is beautifully complimented by the neutral, but still rich background.  Great photo.

The better question is,... do you like it?  If so, then that is all that matters, even if others have done similar compositions before.  Compose whatever attracts you and don't worry if it has been "done" before or not.  I think it is a very well seen and framed photo... nicely proportioned and inviting to the viewer.

  1. A nice composition.  I don't know if there is too much more you could have done with it.  Maybe a little less of the foreground since there isn't much there of interest? (besides the tree shadow).  And maybe using a polarizing filter would have darkened the blue sky and given more contrast to the clouds... making them "pop".

  2. No matter what the subject, you always create a beautiful and unique image.  The soft focus is dreamy and perfect, and including that extra level complimentary green above her head really makes her red hair pop out.  Really beautiful.

  3. Just a beautiful winter scene.  You incorporated all of the elements necessary to give depth, movement and interest into a composition that might otherwise seem "flat".  Great eye and a wonderful photo.
