Love the composition here - really has a nice feel. Your techniques are instantly recognizable of course... the was you work the texture and color... very Donibane-like work. Hope all is well with the family! Glenn
  1. I have been away a long time... thank you to those who keep checking

on my work. I hope you like this one! For Jen and Robert who were

married yesterday and were wonderful enough to give me the

opportunity to try my experimental techniques for their wedding

    photos.... Thank you.

  2. Very special and heartwarming image Anthony... this is exactly the type of scene I like to see in these landscapes. You must have been reading the latest 'Popular Photography' on how to get more out of those sunset scenes. This is a great example of how sunsets should be taken. great work - Glenn

Donibane, I just stopped in for a moment to say hi and check on my friends. It is interesting to see people's work after you have been away for a while... your recent work is fantastic. You definitely have a style that is unique to you. All I can say is keep going, which I know you will anyway, because the masterpieces always find a way to sneak up when we least expect. Your image here is a really neat perspective - maybe something someone would not normally think to try... really makes the viewer think about those tiny background people and what they are doing. Take care my friend and I will enjoy watching for more of your images. Glenn
  3. Steve, I found a moment to drop in to check your new study of hdr... I think you are onto something with the lovely colorful landscapes here. They have a really nice feel. The only thing missing is the definitive masterpiece... it is fun to just go out and shoot hdr of everything we encounter just to see how it comes out. The masterpieces come. Just keep refining the basic techniques and make the proper photography decisions etc. All said, I think what is most important in your shots is that it is not 'obvious' hdr - you are keeping it all looking like real photography and that is great! Take care and I will keep looking in. Glenn

Another captivating image from your children's series Donibane. I think a shot like this is difficult for people to understand unless it is in the context of a group of similar images. Would work great as one piece of one of your collages too. Glenn

Nice family shot Donibane - it has a pleasant feel as well as containing your usual technical excellence. My daughter and I have been sick this last week or so and I just have not had the energy for photography etc. But I always keep an eye on my friends. Take care. Glenn

Very interesting Donibane - something new from you... I guess it makes sense that you would make this, you do similar all the time. It just never really has this kind of modern art look to it. I like it - well done. Glenn

Another excellent creation from you Donibane. Your children must love these. I hope they can appreciate their Dad's great talent! Take care.
  4. Shawn, yes I cannot believe I forgot to get a shot of the man's hands... I have been studying hand shots lately and wanted to make it part of my routine. Maybe next time.... Beng, yes there are few hdr's with people and I have found that I like to shoot people as if they are an object in the scene, rather than close-up portraits.... And Amy, I think you are the one who needs to give me lighting tips... on an image I posted last night I had done an aweful job in the highlights and someone was kind enough to point it out. I am STILL learning everyday, and still making stupid errors... Glenn

Hmmm... I remember using liquify a little when I first played with photoshop but have forgotten about it... thanks for the tip and I will try it again. Glenn

I saw this at your website and recognized it when I saw it posted. It is really amazing art! I love your work and also some of the other artists you link to and am glad to see you posting still. Love the tilted angle to this and the subsequent diagonal energy - excellent! Glenn
  5. Steve, nice work with your toning experiments! As for hdr, if your camera does not bracket, yes you can change exposures manually with a tripod of course... just have to be careful not to move anything. Take care - Glenn
  6. I am very happy you all enjoy this. The theme of capturing these kinds of places has been a favorite of mine... "The Cobbler's Workshop" is my most popular to date. These are the kinds of people and places we MUST support, unless you want the 17 year old serving you at your local "bakery" to be cooking your croissant in the microwave!
