Great photo. However, I think the colors in original look more natural. The reworked version seems to have blue cast. My 2 cents worth.

Drew, Yes it is the 'Go' train of Toronto. I find the bright green color of train a great match with rest of the scenery. Looks like horizontal trees running away...

Love the motion captured in this shot instead of using high shutter speed to freeze the motion.

Hi Stephen, glad you find it natural. The sky is close match to what I saw and what attracted me to go pick up the camera. However, there is so much work required in processing raw files, I am almost tempted to buy a new camera that can take multiple shots and merge them into a hdr image. No need to spend hours in front of computer. The latest offerings from Nikon and and Canon both seem to have this feature. I will do some more research but if I can get jpegs like this straight from camera, I will take it any day :)

I will do the crop and post that as separate photo.

An photoshop blended HDR using same raw file but two exposures 3EV

apart from ACR. It was a beautiful scene but very difficult to reproduce due

to dark clouds, dark foreground and bright sunset sky. Comments or rating

    welcome.

    Pierre,

How nice to get a visit from you. It has been a while. Fall season here is so colorful, it is nature photographer's delight. Red tree looks exotic mixed with golden tones.

    Fall Colors

    Hi Ajay,

Thanks for pointing out the spectrum of VIBGYOR is present in the photo. I did not look at it that way... just a colorful photo. There will be one more month of fall colors in Toronto.

Thanks James, your comments are always encouraging. Thanks for kind words Maurizio, Efim and Peter. I find the interplay of light and shadows very interesting. High exposure brings out the colors and the feeling of "being there".

    Happy fall shooting... Sandeep

  1. Hi Steve,

I think you can try to increase the overall exposure a bit in raw file. It will open up the colors in foreground. The clouds still retain the texture but the dark bluish area in the center cloud will be reduced. It is majestic scene, especially due to presence of clouds and the blue sky. I tried a bit using topaz tools. Please disregard if you prefer dark exposure.

John, the red maple always reminds me of Canadian fall season no matter where I live. It is part of our identity.

Thank you Niki and Neil. Fall season is my favorite time of the year. There is an amazing display in Ontario and Quebec, before the winter sets in. It looks like a painter's fantasy land for one month :)

Fall colors in Markham. I am always intrigued by how some trees

turn completely red. The colors in photo are very close to how they

appear in real life. Critique welcome.

Thanks Grayham for the suggestion. It looks interesting both ways. I find it funny how these birds synchronize movement of wings to match each other. They really seem to follow the leader with no questions asked :)

    Regards... Sandeep
