I really enjoy the soft, muted tones in this image, and the forthright, direct pose of the subject. I would personally prefer it if his shirt were a solid color, instead of printed. The text especially distracts me from his face and arms. Nice work, though!
  1. Thanks for your critique and comments, Glenn. I certainly see what you are saying. I wan't sure if the fact the tones of the trees are not seperated very much from those of the wall added to its abstract quality. The two trees on the left are both dead, or nearly dead, and hence have almost the same color as the rock wall. But I may well go back to the original and work with this further.

Again, thanks very much for your comments :)

  2. Really very well done. I love the soft light in this, and the way you placed the falls in the frame so they make a very dynamic diagonal line. And then the surpise of finding the other small falls on the left side. Nice work!

    Obsession.

This is a very nice, very graphic image. I like it quite a lot. I do wonder if a tiny crop off the top, and a little bit off the bottom might make it even stronger?

This is excellent! I love the soft greens, and the way the mist softens everything, and takes on the green of the forest floor. Really, really nice!

    Tulips

This is very nice, I think. It's almost surreal, with so many tulips, in such a flat seeming space. Nicely done.

I know the cell phone is now an intregal part of many people's meals these days, but I still think this would make a much stronger image without it. The delicasy of the plates just doesn't match the sleek styling of the phone. I don't know if I'm missing the point, though :)

    The Poet

Very nice portrait. You could almost guess that this gentleman was a poet, even without the caption. I think the tones are handled well, although I do wonder if there could be a bit more mid tone contrast in the face. Nice work.
  3. This is very nice. I love the tones of the infrared response here, and the composition is lovely. I do wish the portion in the upper middle wasn't quite so bright.

This is very pretty! I love the soft OOF background, and the slight blurring of the wings. What about a crop off the left side, so there's more room in front of the hummer than behind?

This is wonderful! Beautiful, luminous tones, and a real dynamism to the flowing forms in this. So often these trees are shown whole, against the sky. I really enjoy this close-up view. Nice work!
