Jack, I would probably not say what I am thinking if this was by another artist. This image makes me feel terribly sad...a place I am not far from most of the time this past week anyway. But something about this reminds me of a photo I just saw for the first time yesterday. A friend posted online an image of a dead young woman naked and bloody after a botched abortion. She said it was an iconic image back in the sixties so maybe you know the one I am talking about. Maybe it is the shapes. Maybe it is the colors. The image was black and white, but these are the colors I felt when I saw it.

Interesting. This image is full of mystery. Whose room is this? The teddy bear makes me think it belongs to a child, but the painting of the woman would be for an adult. Maybe a mother and child share this room? What is under the sheet? Where is this? It does not look like the US. I don't necessarily want answers. It is compelling in that it makes me ask these questions.

Jeff, I kind of like "Cat With Cheeseburger". Makes as much sense as anything these days, although it is encouraging to see the peaceful protests. Those do make sense. Not sure what to make of the image. Just the name trump has me retching, so you are challenging me here. Science on the left, lies and misinformation on the right? Visually maybe a little yin-yang? Don't know if I can carry the yin-yang on to what is happening in right now. I do agree that this IS a time for artists to be political!

Mark, They come in peace and bearing gifts! If you have never been to a Mardi Gras parade, it is quite different from the parades I grew up watching. Even the spectators are participants, scrambling for the beads, cups, stuffed animals, doubloons, and other stuff thrown from the floats. And now, I'm chuckling to myself about my comment on the subtle beauty of Louisiana. There is NOTHING subtle about Mardi Gras! LOL!

Jack, This little boardwalk into the swamp is on my way home from New Orleans. I have to work in the city one day a week, so I try to stop here when I have time and the weather allows. I don't often see this much water there. I am always drawn to reflections though. Mark, Louisiana is a fascinating place. Its beauty is much more subtle than the mountains, but I kind of enjoy that about it. I highly recommend it. If you do come, let me know. I always enjoy meeting my fellow photogs!

Thank you Mark and Drew! Mark, I do crop nearly all of my images to a square. Im not sure why it appeals to me so much. Partly it is a challenge...if I can't make it work in a square, I don't use the image. But partly I think I just "see" things in squares. I am forever mentally cropping others images into squares as well. Haha. Also, I like to be different. I like panoramas too, but don't use that format as often. Of course it does make it difficult, and more expensive, when I want to print and frame images.
