Nice colors, and the cottage with water behind is interesting. Is the camera held level? It seems you are pointing the camera down a bit which throws off the perspective. A wider angle lens, horizontal across the valley would include the cottage and correct perspective.

The fact that the sky and ground are equal luminosity seems not quite right in this shot. There is very good detail on the horizon, ie the barn and such. A little work at the light balance might be useful.

  1. My first thought was that the foreground was too dark. Then I noticed the lighthouse and had to reconsider. It works, but I wonder if a second exposure a stop or two lighte would have let you combine into a more powerful shot. I like it as is , but..

I like the image. It has an old time feel to it. There is significant vignetting, either added or due to open aperture. The tree is compelling. You did a good job of holding the cloud detail. Finally, black and white instead of color works here.

  2. I have been on top of those clifffs, but not down below. We recently visited Mesa Verde- worth a day of your life. As far as this image- I guess it is afternoon by the strong yellow cast of light. I just now see the kivas in the foreground. It is difficult to pick out detail given the strong shadowing. Looks like an interesting place to visit.

I'm a sucker for these single tree shots. I like the image, but the green and yellow may be a little over saturated. a little more contrast in the hollow behind the tree might be nice. Regards.

The overexposed center building is distracting. There is circular vignetting. Color balance? Might be worth editing out the power lines at the horizon. Regards.

  3. I love the Owens Valley side of the Sierra. The sky-mountain juncture here is fine. I find the orange of the foreground a bit overpowering for some reason. Nice, but... a bit over the top. I think the camera is tilted up as well. The perspective is alterd by this. A horizontal image would be more natural.  Regards.

All in all a nice image. Good composition once the mid rowers come in view. You hit some purple in the sky thats not quite right. Croppingthe bottom to  the cloud reflections might be good as well.
