  1. Okay, I just went and dished out some bucks and got a good deal on

the KM 28-75 2.8 (D) lens. (yet to be delivered, thus the question)

On my camera at the moment I have been using a Sigma 28-70 2.8 EX DF

    lense.

I decided to put on the standard lens that came with the 7D and mess

    around. KM 28-100 3.5-5.6 lens.

Now I took some shots, with and without flash of a 'vitamin bottle'

The Sigma lense for example gives me tack sharp letters on the

sticker on the vitamin bottle, I put on the KM 28-100 and the same

letters at similar focal length are simply not that sharp, even when

using flash and also a still camera.

    Now finally to the question,

Is there a massive gap in the quality of image obtained from the KM

    28-75 2.8 (D) lens and the KM 28-100 3.5-5.6?

And when it comes to quality of those letters on the sticker of the

vitamin bottle, what would be the difference between the Sigma 28-70

    2.8 and the KM 28-75 2.8.

  2. I will only upgrade if it is an upgrade and I require it. My 7D give me pro results right now.

My largest print is A4, and 7D gives the pro results.

So It will most likely be a 2nd or 3rd evolution of the Sony DSLR before I decide or need a change.

  3. I have not had any issues with my 7D. Like most camera's bugs are found out early usually and fixed as manufacturing conitnues.

With the 7D camera's around now and updated firmware. You can still get a lemon, but this is no more or less than any other maker.

The 7D is probably one of the best buys on the market at the moment, in some cases half the price of when it was released.

  4. There is free speech, but there is also pointless personal abuse, and it is the later which has been in use on here of late by some.

Turning normal posts into a place for some to just throw mud.

  5. That is the only think I can think of, having the battery forced in the wrong way, and if that is the case, one would have to have been a real idiot to do it. Cause that would require real force, something that neverwould be required.

That said, you bought it, was it new or used, because one would have assumed you checked it before buying if you bought it used.

  6. This is weird, The battery sits in place, so unless someone used glue or it has the wrong battery, even if the spring is broken it should just slide out easily anyway.

Me thinks someone has done something to jam it in there. The design does not lead to having the battery have a really tight fit.

  7. The 7D is a great camera, top quality.

Just because KM packed up their bag and left, the camera was still their flagship. It was their dream to put them on the playing field once again, and I prefer it over the Canon 20D and Nikon D70s.

No matter what, the camera will be under warranty and service by Sony. So what are you waiting for, buy the damn thing and enjoy.

Stop being put off by people who want to shout doom and gloom.

I bought the 7D because I havea nice collection of lenses. And as long as Sony brings out something that will allow me to continue to use those lovely lenses. I will buy Sony DSLR.

Simga, Tamron, Tokina are still making Minolta mount lenses.

So the future is there, otherwise they would have stop making Minolta mount lenses.

Get it and start enjoying your Minolta.

  8. On my 7xi camera there can be seen a tiny bit of oil. Since the shutter does not touch the image. It should really pose no problem whatsoever, I checked my old Ricoh XR1 manual camera and can see some smudges of oil.
  9. There is no way in the world, impossible that the Playstation 3 will be around $900 (is that US)

Microsoft has already stated in Australia that the price will be around $500 Aus Dollars (more like $495)

$900 is double the Xbox 360, living in fairy land, impossible. It will be cheaper than the Xbox mate.

  10. Playstation is a prime example. It is dirt cheap, and if you then say it is the same price as other gaming systems, Xbox (not 360 of course) you have answered your question, think Microsoft or Nitendo ever wanted their systems sold at that price.

When the Xbox was bought out years ago a couple of Months before Christmas, Both machines were about the same price, and Nitendo also. Sony before Xmas dropped their price of the Xbox by $200.

Microsoft took a finacial bloodbath on their Xbox at the time, cause they had to lower the price when Sony dropped the Price of their machine by $100 when the Xbox was released. Thats $300 less than what Microsoft was ever expecting.

    "It's a Sony"

It is estimated at least in my country the playstation 3 will be $250 cheaper than the Xbox 360, and already will be 3 times faster.

  11. Kiss and make up girls. Fact is Sony wants to WOW the Digital SLR world, and get all those doubting KM users into bed.

Expect a lot of money to be thrown around, not only with advertising the camera, but also the price.

Sony has a habit of making some good stuff with a cheap price tag in order to gain market share.

    "It's a Sony"

One does not have to have been around for 100 years in the biz to gain control of it.

Sony has "Only from the minds of Minolta" technology and idea's. Expect the Minolta mind to live on in innovation with Sony D-SLR's.

Think positive, after all it's christmas time on the planet 'Polis'.

    Yibida Yibidaaaa

  12. There is a little slider next to the LCD screen, it gives you three options. "Eyepiece Only", "Auto", this is where it gives the LCD screen, but put your eye up to the viewfinder and it activates the finder and shuts off the LCD screen", then there is LCD screen only.

Check those settings. I think you may have LCD screen only set.

  13. If I was to jump ship it would be to a Canon 30D or 5D or Nikon D200. Otherwise I would find another 7D.

If you want a stable system, I would go Canon. What do I mean by that?

Nikon is not making much money at the moment, dumping pretty much all their film camera's I think was a major thing.

Remember Minolta was around for ever and vanished faster than money in poker machines. Nikon, and especially Olympus I think are close to the edge and will battle on for a little while in the hopes things improve.

Go Canon, they are the strongest at the moment for Digital SLR's

  14. "Film is dying", sorry "Film is already dead"

    I like this debate........

Anyone who buys a consumer film camera these days is not only stupid, but really stupid.

A cheap digital camera will give better results than a cheap film camera.

Film companies should only target high end professional markets for pro film shooters. but give it another year and those pro film shooters would have moved to high end pixel digital cameras and expensive printers. (Thats if they are not already there now)

Even the wedding photographers who used to praise film only, many have now gone digital.

  15. Numbers like this mean little to Sony at the moment. For example they still dominate the games Market with their playstation, and have been able to do this by making cheap machines, and can afford to do this because of profits in other divisions.

Sony can make losses in the camera market. Sony is a world monster and clearly shows no intention other than to make and spend more money trying to dominate the camera market.

  16. I was not having a go at you, so please do not look at it like that. It was never about anything other than a comment on the plug-in.

That said, I am not an expert with photoshop, but most of what this plug-in did, was pretty easy to do without the plug-in, and most done with nothing other than the common photoshop tools that one would use most frequently, brightness, contrast, saturation, etc.

To me making digital images look like film is pretty simple. Increase contrast and saturation and do not sharpen.

One thing my digital images when printed out differ from film, is that is the clarity is clearer and images way sharper.

People may say they like film better than digital. My film images simply do not match what I produce with the 7D, the 7D give me better results.

I think most people do not print their digital images to the best they can. I have seen people's digital images printed, even when done at a lab. Under most situations when I then get their image, I can usually achieve a greater percent better printed output using photoshop and my epson printer.
