This is a stunning shot Christopher. Sharp, focussed and The colors are marvelously captured and rendered. Bravo, you are moving along so well and so fast.

I like the rather soft capture in the harsh lighting. Your background treatment, reducing GOF, has made the floewr stand out.

    Hope you have been well

Interesting and a very natural shot. It's a typical case which seems that I have personally witnessed many times ! I bet you, they ended up buying the one on the right :)

What I like most about this is the focus and the focal plain, along with that really respectable DOF and bokeh. This is a macro well done and I would be proud of it. The bright spot on the lower right however, is a tiny bit too bright for my eyes and it keeps on drawing them to itself.

This is a very good macro my friend and I think you have done well. The focus is good, DOF is good and the capture is excellent. The soft and diffused lighting has given you a very good exposure without any glare and specular highlights.

You have composed this very well and the capture is excellent. The detail in the white feathers have been kept very well also.

    Jan,

Nice to hear from you my friend.

The DOF is intentional and it's meant to be that way. Good thing I didn't go with Canon 85 1.2 !!!

He has very dark skin as he is out gardening all the time. There was an incandescent ceiling lamp over head and that's where the yellowish tones come from.

    Thanks again,

    Cyrus

I agree on with Rachel on the comment David. You also have some banding and color transition problem on the cheeks and the arm. Still a good photo with some beautiful colors and soft background. I would have liked to see the eyes a bit sharper tho.

David, I have sent you several email. Why are you not answering me my friend?

Janet, For this set up, the bee was about 5 inches or 13 Centimeter from the lens. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions you may have.

    Kind regards.

Thank you for the insightful comment and may I mention my friend, there is no need to be offensive.

For your info, I'm not hung up on numbers. During my year and a half on Pnet, I have submitted ONLY a handful of images for rating.

The problem is not "the self proclaiming photographer" and we have gone through as what the real problem is. Another problem David, is the kind of member such as yourself who don't even have one photograph to show and yet proclaim to be an expert in evaluating photos on this site. Looking at the photos you have rated highest, it seems like you have a totally different view of what a good photo is, which is fine by me. What is not fine, is the way you seem to be an expert in Macrophotography, which I strongly doubt. And by the way, It's the novice way of thinking that a "great" photo is measured by weather or not you are going to hang it on your diningroom wall!

    .

    "good, but not the best"

Well, I did Not say it was the best but since you mentioned it, I would presume you know what you are talking about. NOW, would you please direct my attention to a full frame LIVE macro of such magnification, detail and technical qualities, specially of a bee and specially on this site, I BET YOU, you can't and I would love to be proven otherwise!
