A few years back I had a scanner that wouldn’t communicate with the computer. Drove me nuts trying to find the problem, it turned out to be the cable. An easy thing to try if you have a spare kicking around.

Thanks for your input DD. I’ve just updated my computer and monitor to take advantage of wider colour spaces. Got a fast i9 machine and 4K , wide gamut monitor so hopefully hardware won’t be a problem. I’ve been using an Epson 3880 and am sure what I’m learning will improve prints. Do you have any recommendations for printers, especially book printers who do it right? Have been working on a project that I want to turn into a coffee table book. Don’t know what’s available and have even considered getting double sided paper and printing myself, then having it bound.
