  2. Here I am talking about spelling and can't see my own errors. Oh well, blame it on old eyes and out of date lenses. Need new glasses, but not keen on going into the big city just yet. Had to dig into the archives for a down an alley photo. This one was shot during an episode of going walkabout many years ago. If you happened to live in Kabul during the earlier seventies and needed a kilo of hamburger meat this is probably where you would shop. They would chop it up while you waited. It saddens me to hear of what the people have been put through since this photo was shot. 3G , 5cm Elmar Agfa CNS (80 ASA)
  3. As usual I show up late. A busy week, weather has improved and am trying to get the garden ready for another year. If you care to see what keeps me busy and has been therapy during the pandemic, take a look at the thread in "accessories" section called BIG tripod. You certain meet some interest people Arthur, thanks for the photos. Allan, very nice. I've enjoyed back alleys and wide angles for many years, that's where you often find interesting images. This one with the M4 and 21mm made me chuckle. Spellings on signs is often less than perfect. Puducherry India. ***** Don't let friends drink and spell *******

    BIG Tripods!

The ladder is rather bulky so would need a pickup truck or roof rack to transport. Weight is very reasonable as it’s all aluminum, I’m in my late seventies and only weight about 135 pounds and have no problem moving it around the yard. The wide footprint and adjustable third leg makes it easy to use on uneven surfaces.
  5. One day while looking at the orchard ladder in my backyard, I realized it just needed a tripod head. Some scrap, a hole drilled for a 3/8" stud and there it was, the tallest tripod in town.... ;-) Now to try it out, 10.5mm on D200 and a wireless remote release. The ladder is made by Hasegawa and is very stable. I got the platform version and it would work for elevated handheld shooting. If someone needed an elevated view over crowds or for a unique view point this might work. The company has a site with all the dimensions and info..... www.hasegawaladders.com A selfie of sorts,... that's me peaking over the corn. Am up to 30 raised beds, most on drip irrigation, 6 grape vines, and 8 fruit trees. It's amazing what intensive agricultue like this can produce, excess produce doesn't go to waste, it gets shared.

  9. I've been isolating so how about some from my last wander around India pre-pandemic...... All with M4 and 21mm Super Angulon on Tri-X in 1:1 D76 Down a Delhi back alley A grab shot. As I walked by, caught motion in the corner of my eye. When I saw what it was, swung the camera up and got this shot. I usually leave the lens set near the hyper-focal distance for times when there's no time to focus accurately. 21mm DOF is also a big help. Puducherry, South India Spectators at a bocce game. 12. You certainly meet some interesting people Arthur, don't think the shots would work as well in colour. I did look up Wingham, seems a good bit quieter than Sydney. My photo isn't Santa off season, but my father at the helm of the boat I hoped would take me to the South Pacific. The location is just off the town of Sidney on Vancouver Island where I've lived for many years. I sent this photo to Pacific Yachting and they used it for the cover of one of their issues. Shot with M4 and 21mm Super Angulon. Sadly I never got the chance to go blue water cruising, health issues threw a monkey wrench into that dream. All I kept was my sextant and sight reduction tables.

  16. And here I am a couple days late. Nothing recent, haven't exposed any film in the Leicas in ages. So much to scan that I'm hesitant to add more to the back log. Have been using a little X-100 series camera when I occasionally go on a local walk about so have gotten lazy. I always enjoying browsing the weekly photos even if I'm a sparse poster myself. Besides the interesting stuff was what I shot long ago while off wandering in some place far from home. Where about are you located Arthur? I lived in Sydney for a while while doing research at the uni, once in Waverly, another time at Coogee. I have memories of the great pub fare at the later. More recently my work in oceanography resulted in several trips on on large container ship sailing between Canada and Australia. The shot under the Harbour bridge using a 3f and 5cm Elmar was on one of those trips. Closer to home, the B&W photo with added colour was shot in the Eastern Rockies using an M4 50mm Summicron with orange filter. It's what I used as a card in past years, Glenn Best wishes everyone. Stay safe and let's hope 2022 is a bit more sane.
