Based on the serial number, what shop is offering you is a Tele-Elmarit-M aka. 'Thin' T-E. Its model number is 11800 and was repleced by the Elmarit-M in 1990. It takes 39mm filters. They might be confused by the fact that the thin T-E is the 2nd generation of the Tele-Elmarit. Its predecessor (1st gen Tele-Elmarit), the 'fat' T-E replaced the 1st generation 90 Elmarit. (This naming is really confusing, I know). %-)

I find I'm grabbing mine (current) rather than the 'cron. It can't be collapsed into an M8, but I'll live with that when the time comes.

Ben,
The only 90 Elmarit that has an assigned code at this time is the current one. What Leica decides to do in the future I can't say. The list is available here: http://www.leica-camera.us/news/news/1/801.html

Supposedly the firmware is tweaked to what Leica thinks give you more neutral results. As far as is known this deals with colour saturation, contrast and sharpness. You will often find that Asian and European taste, especially in colours, differs.

I really like APX100 in XTOL 1+1 9:45 at 20C/68F. I'm just looking at the first results of the film in 510-Pyro (1+100). It looks promising, but its a bit early to say.

Souped a roll of T-Max 400 a couple of months back (my staple 400ISO film is Hp5+). I read here that fixing it twice as long as the recommended time would remove the pink colour of the base. It did. Washing was as I normally do; Ilford 5, 10, 20, 20.

Svein Jarle,
A quick check around 2nd hand sites shows that the .85 finders fetch about the same as a .72 finder for bodies in the same condition. There might be a difference for the .58, but the only one I found was an MP at ffordes and it looked like it too was about the same as a .72 finder would find.

Rita,
Treat your self to a card reader and hook that up to the machine. Faster, simpler and safer.

After the final rinse and soak in mirasol I reverse the roll back on the Hewes stainless steel reel I used in the tank, emulsion side out and dry it this way. No curling issues at all as long as I'm patient enough to let the negs dry completely. For me that means leaving them until the next day. I've done this with HP5+, FP4+, APX100, Acros, Tri-X, Neopan 400 and 1600 - all 135 as that is what I shoot.
I switched from using a Paterson system IV tank to a SS tank and Hewes reels to do it this way. Not regretted that at all for the 18 months I've done it. No curling and much less spilling of chemicals with the Kindermann than the old Paterson setup, that was a real bonus.

The current 90 Elmarit is a very, very good lens. It is plenty sharp, reasonably light weight and can be found in great 2nd hand shape for $650-750. If you can live with an f2.8 lens it will not dissapoint you. I wouldn't sell mine. Here is a boring shot of a plum tree branch in the back yard.

I'm looking for inks that will give me true B&W using my Epson 2100 on matte as
well as luster/semigloss paper. Mediastreet's GQ B&W inks have come up in my
search. Information about them on the net is rather scarse.
Does anyone here have any experience?
Thanks,

It looks like one, yes. A bit og curiosa: The serial number makes it a very early one. According to "Leica pocket book, 7th ed" the first s# for an Elmar-M was 3668031, the one on eBay has S#3668204.

Frotgot to mention tha I've used EI100.
As for the fotoimport.no curve it has a note in bold that translates to "Not recommended due to low light sensitivity". Dag at Fotoimport is a good guy and my 'pusher', I get most of my supplies from him.

Personally, I'm really happy with APX100 (35mm) in Xtol 1+1 for 9min 45sec at 20C agitation is 45 seconds, then 10 sec/minute after that. Also tried it in Rodinal, but I prefer Xtol.

Ron,
If you have Luigi ship to an EU country you'll have to pay the VAT. If he ships to a Non EU country it should be deducted and you'll have to pay whatever customs and import taxes is applicable. Should be easy enough to fugure out which one is cheaper for you.

Would I buy again? At $1800 - no. At $600 - yes.
Tuna: If your RAW write time is 17 seconds it is your SD card that is too slow. It is universally accepted that the minimum time used is 6 seconds. Even my old 33x Lexar card gives me that, not to mention the Ultra IIs
As for the enlargement size of a D2's 'only' 5mp image I've had a 60x90cm done from a JPEG - that is 23.6x35.4 inches. My wife just got a C-Lux 1 which is 6mp camera - there is no way the JPEGs from that can stand up to the ones from a D2. The Vario-Summicron on the D2 is a fantastic lens.
