But pigment ink printers have more clogging problems than dye ink printers. It's the nature of the beast, but has to be taken into consideration. A high-end pigment printer can make stunning prints, if you use it regularly. If you don't use it, you won't get any prints, or you will spend a fortune in ink to keep the head clean!

Walking Among the Dead....

You might get an answer in the Canon EOS forum. This is a forum for lessons and classes.

I don't think a 'vintage' camera will yield 'vintage looking' photos unless you understand the prevailing conditions and culture. It's like buying a 1920's box camera today to emulate 1920 photos. Sure lens quality has changed, emulsions have changed... but it's not about technology, it's about the prevailing conditions and culture.

I had the book made by Blurb as a pass-around portfolio for use at trade gatherings. it was just so that people didn't have to turn the book. The previous versions had portrait-orientation photos printed sideways on the page. I got tired of watching potential clients flip past a photo just because they couldn't be bothered to turn the book. 99% of my pictures were 2:3 aspect ratio because I crop in the camera (all studio photos) so I can print the entire frame.

I made mine 12" X 12" to accommodate portrait and landscape images equally. I would recommend making yours bigger, while 12" X 12" seemed huge when I made it, I'd like 14" or 15" now.

As in, did you buy it or not!

"Huh? That 107" is the width, not the length of the roll. And you need more than the ceiling height to form an 'infinity curve' for the model to stand on." He wants to stand the roll on end for storage. As recommended by the mfr.

Kodak Carousel 4600 Questions...
Charles_Webster replied to Vincent Peri's topic in Casual Photo Conversations
Take the tray off the projector and see if the indexing finger (a little nylon teardrop) is moving forward when you push the advance button. Also check if the tray lock finger retracts when either the advance or reverse buttons are pushed. Can you move the tray by hand when the tray release button, on the front near the lens, is held down. If the answer to any of those is no, the mechanism is not working correctly. Carousel projectors are old, and much of the mechanism is made of plastic that ages quickly in the heat from the lamp. It's probably not possible to get repair parts for them these days. -
When did you last project slides?
Charles_Webster replied to conrad_hoffman's topic in Casual Photo Conversations
Through the 70s and into the 80s, I made my living projecting slides ;-) I probably haven't since '82 or '83. Changed careers. -
What technique is this guy using for these wedding shots?
Charles_Webster replied to alexsmith66's topic in Wedding & Event
Given where the sun is, he's certainly using some kind of diffuse fill. I don't see any shadows on her dress, arm, etc. so I think a very large diffuse source, maybe directly in front of her. The bouquet casts a shadow on her leg, so maybe the source is a little above mid-line?? My $0.02 worth, I'm no expert and I'm sure someone will jump in and disagree with me quick enough. -
Mixed media, and how to do it
Charles_Webster replied to tommarcus's topic in Casual Photo Conversations
If you can find a copy of the "Cinematographer's Handbook" of that era, it explains how optical effects were created "old school" BTW, "Mixed media" usually refers to mixing two or more media in a single piece, like painting on a photo print, or doing impasto over a bas-relief sculpture. -
I often use my 17-40 lens for landscapes on my EOS 7D. It all depends on the subject!

Harry, you don't tell us which country you're in, so this is applicable to US only. Did you sign a contract with the conference promoters? If so what are the terms WRT copyright and licensing rights? If you had a contract with them, this might qualify as "work for hire" which may affect your rights to sell/license the photos. More details please

Canon 60mm Macro or 24-70 L for Close-Up
Charles_Webster replied to leslienicolephoto's topic in Canon EOS Mount
I use a 60mm macro on a 7D on a regular basis. I get good solid results with no issues. The Canon EF-S 60mm lens is among the sharpest I've ever used, and I doubt the 24-70 will approach the sharpness. -

pricing the prints that you sell to clients.
Charles_Webster replied to owen_dawson's topic in Business of Photography
I hope the OP charges a session fee in addition to print prices. I don't see how anyone could make a profit off print prices like those. -
Catalog shots for a local company
Charles_Webster replied to vincitytaymodaimo's topic in Business of Photography
This thread is over 2 years old, and I expect that the OP solved the issue and moved on. That said, it's good to have the creative director on site, styling the shots, that way they get what they want, not what the photographer wants to give them. I always preferred to work with a CD or designated stylist. Catalog work is different from simple product work, because of the logistics of managing many products and shots. The worst job I ever had was to shoot 200 purses for a catalog. What a hopeless mess! -
