When the Lowe River rises above it's current borders it washes the sand and gravel away leaving a chaotic but interesting pattern of colored roots.

Trumpeter Swan Cygnets next to the Lowe River at Valdez, Alaska. It was late, low sunshine but they were making the best of it and soaking up every bit they could.
