<p>I'm not far from Bawlimer, and I had never heard of this guy until now. The image you chose is an excellent one--doesn't matter that he "photoshopped" it. It is the exemplar of a scene that, no doubt, he had witnessed many times. It's the simplicity and softness that work together so perfectly. There is just enough detail in the background to provide a context without spoiling the overall harmony. In a way, this is a great example of what is usually called a "good eye". He saw it, he shot it, he added what he felt at the time, but which was missing.</p>
<p>I also really like <a href="http://programs.wypr.org/sites/default/files/bodinewindowhires.jpg">this one</a> of his. Obviously a setup, and equally obviously a real picture of a real life. Thanks for the intro to someone I'm glad to have "met". BTW, you will never "master" b/w film. No one ever did; they only learned how to get the results <em>they</em> wanted.</p>
