1.
This is a lovely video about a sad event--the closing of an E-6 line forever. Yes, one of the anti-digital arguments made is nonsense, but it's still worth watching.

  2.
That's was an attack, by any standard. "Les, what did you mean by that?" is not an attack. I linked to two of Bodine's pictures. In one, an African-American is shown as an industrial worker in a metalwork plant, not a happy servant boy. In the other, teenagers are pictured looking like the local JD gang, not tourist-worthy, pleasant children.

  3.

Particularly with the inarticulate Les barking his stuff to no purpose other than to just bark.

I will receive an apology for this utterly uncalled-for attack, I trust? You were having a bad day? You see, I've been a professional, paid writer for over thirty years, and I resent ad hominem attacks of this kind, since my editors strongly disagreed with your--no doubt informed--view of my work.

  4.
Any drugstore (chemist) should carry a product called "Nail Care Sticks" or similar name. These are bamboo sticks, used for removing/spreading nail polish. They are great for removing camera seals, because of the shape of the nail end. I found out about them when a seal kit I ordered (for a Mamiya RB and 120 back) contained several of these sticks, and my wife identified them.

  5.
Yes, and there's this clearly servile image of an African-American, (with whom I would not mess). And this shot of carefree, happy-go-lucky kids enjoying a day out.

  6.
There's a series in the US, on TV, from Investigation Discovery, called Fear Thy Neighbor. While they amp up things a bit for ratings, the cases are very real. Makes you wonder who lives next door. And video cameras are often deployed by one or more of the feuding neighbors.

  7.
I'm not far from Bawlimer, and I had never heard of this guy until now. The image you chose is an excellent one--doesn't matter that he "photoshopped" it. It is the exemplar of a scene that, no doubt, he had witnessed many times. It's the simplicity and softness that work together so perfectly. There is just enough detail in the background to provide a context without spoiling the overall harmony. In a way, this is a great example of what is usually called a "good eye". He saw it, he shot it, he added what he felt at the time, but which was missing.

I also really like this one of his. Obviously a setup, and equally obviously a real picture of a real life. Thanks for the intro to someone I'm glad to have "met". BTW, you will never "master" b/w film. No one ever did; they only learned how to get the results they wanted.

  8. That's kind of silly--I like it.

    Apple Blossom II

Really beautiful--painterly in the bst way.
  10.
It's a pretty nice video--well shot and very well edited. BUT, does the photographer put the paper and neg in the contact frame with the enlarger light ON? (Maybe they did this to show the process?) The one thing it doesn't show is how absolutely GORGEOUS an 8x10 contact print is.

  11.
I promised you a cat, and by God I'm delivering on that promise! D300, Tamron 17-50 AF

  12.
Hmmmmmm. The question is, is "Socially Influential" a synonym for "Successful Marketing"? If so, it's really not a bad thing in the commercial world. (Also, if you scroll down to the 'Top 100' list, there are some good names on it.)

    Look....no touch!

Color is great, and I like the lines in the background.

    landing

Wonderfully filled with life (and hair). Forced perspective really put the emphasis on the subject.

    Children from Jinka

An interesting perspective--I might crop in on one or both sides?
  17.
I'm sorry. It's just another flower. I'll do a cat next.

  18.
Yeesh. "Nose grease" is for scratched film, okay? Kids today. Don't know nothin'.

  19.
I usually wear cotton shirts, and just breathe on the LCD and rub it. Works fine.

  20. Excellent work, marvelous color and the black bg is perfect.
  21.
Andrew: I find MY prints need a bit of extra contrast. I think it has to do with my perception, rather than a calibration problem. In practice, +8 is a very small adjustment.

  22.
And your printer settings like this? (With your paper type and profile.)

  23.
Okay. Do your LR settings look like this?
