There is a possibility to mark image as protected. When you delete all images those that are marked protected stay on the card.
If you format everything is gone.

Jonathan, I like your photos more than their presention. One long to the right running stripe, cannot get larger images...

I'm the fool :( The image I've just uploaded looks fine when viewed from web. I have to read something about the color management, I guess.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. Yes,I have the latest version (1.2.1) . I got it with my 20D I bought few weeks ago. I went to Canon site and checked for updates. 1.2.1 is the latest and is supposed to fix the problem I'm describing, but not for me.
I will use DPP as suggested because EVU is total craziness. Canon needs to address this issue. After all EVU is the default utility they provide with 20D. The ZoomBrowserEx provided with 300D is better, though not good as well.
I'm attaching crop from RAW->JPEG conversion done with EVU. The RAW looks even worse (much worse) on the screen.<div></div>

I now that Canon issued an update to fix this issue, but I have the
latest version and I'm still experiencing this problem. Is it only me
or does anybody of you have the same problem? The EOSViewerUtility is
basically unusable.

I have EF-S 17-85 and also Sigma 18-50/2.8. I like Sigma18-50 very much. It is lightweight, fast, good optical performance. But Sigma's quality control is a gamble. I had to return the first lense because of distortions. It was replaced and the second one is fine.
EF-S17-85 is a good lense, with very useful zoom range for a walkabout length. I noticed soem CA at the wide end.
Rainbow like flare with 17-40L
in Canon EOS Mount
Posted
I received my new 17-40L and I love it. It's sharp, shows minimal or
no CA and no vignetting either. However it has a strange, rainbow
like flare near the center of the frame (see attached photo). This is
at 40mm. Is this normal, to be expected? All the reviews I read say
that such flares should be well controlled with this lens.<div></div>
