  1. I received my new 17-40L and I love it. It's sharp, shows minimal or

no CA and no vignetting either. However it has a strange, rainbow

like flare near the center of the frame (see attached photo). This is

at 40mm. Is this normal, to be expected? All the reviews I read say

that such flares should be well controlled with this lens.<div>00COmO-23876584.jpg.44188d221eaf24930083aa8f34fced38.jpg</div>

  2. Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. Yes,I have the latest version (1.2.1) . I got it with my 20D I bought few weeks ago. I went to Canon site and checked for updates. 1.2.1 is the latest and is supposed to fix the problem I'm describing, but not for me.

I will use DPP as suggested because EVU is total craziness. Canon needs to address this issue. After all EVU is the default utility they provide with 20D. The ZoomBrowserEx provided with 300D is better, though not good as well.

I'm attaching crop from RAW->JPEG conversion done with EVU. The RAW looks even worse (much worse) on the screen.<div>00CDON-23549884.JPG.32dc72ca966abe795241f16b242ae63a.JPG</div>
