All elements came together nicely. Great tonal range. Excellent image.

Phil, this is great. I like how the front rocks lead my eyes to the sky/storm. The purple color of the clouds makes this photo that much more unique.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your comments and critiques. I was actually excited to see this scene through my view finder.
I disagree with Ken's comment that sand dunes are all about expanse. Personally I am very interested in the subtle and subsidiary qualities of a landscape.

What a serene scene. Great capture!

A more classic view of the White Sand Dunes. Hope you like this one
as well. As always comments and critiques are welcome and
appreciated.

Thanks everyone for your kind words which I really appreciate. It was quite an experience finding my way out of the sand in the dark. I just couldn't resist the urge to stay a little longer and a little longer... All those "ponds" formed a maze I almost could not get out.

Thanks Rashed, Ken and Donald for your kind words.
Michel, I see your point, and last night I actually tried to clone the grass more to the left to provide a balance. But since I am not proficient in PS it just did not come out right. So I decided to leave it in for now. Thanks for your detailed comment.

More from White Sands National Monuments, NM. Water left from
offseason moonsons presented unusual photo opportunities. Comments
and critiques are welcome and appreciated.

Rick, this is most beautiful. I especially like the reflect of the clouds and how they complement the rocks. Great work indeed!

Great color, composition. Everything about this is just great. The photographer makes the picture. Congratulations on a great shot!

Alec, great and amazing color. Well done.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments.
Anish, all my dune series are shot in the morning. But I imagine sunset shots would be fine as well. I got to the dune about 1.5 hours before sunrise and hiked to areas that had few footprints. Good luck and look forward to seeing your work.

This was shot minutes before sunrise when light was still soft.
Even though this does not have the intensive colors as my other
shots do, I thought the softness and more subtle shades had their
own appeal, beauty and uniqueness. What do you think? Comments and
critiques are welcome and appreciated.
