The image suffers from a couple things. 1) Noise - maybe the iso was too high or you had to bump up the brightness. 2) Frontal flash - gives harsh shadows and flat light with no 'modeling'. 3) Distraction of the door frame. Try again removing those three problems and you'll have a winner.

I like the abstract - is it a photo or a drawing? The central logo is a little distracting - it's too prominent and draws the eye a bit too much. Perhaps put it off the one side or the other at the bottom?

Very central, but it's worked out well - there's enough symmetry to pull it off. Nice colors and saturation and exposure too.

As a thumbnail this image leaps out at the viewer, and then at a larger size it's even better! Great use of depth of field, gorgeous treatment of the body and intense look - full marks, buddy.
  1. Comp card one-of-three, shot on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia,

as an example of the photographer's work. Model Noah Rush.

    Cross-processing effect applied in photoshop.

RAW conversion curve used to blow out city highlights. Layers with

colored halos (gaussian blurred) added to give the 'explosion'.

    Thanks for viewing.

  2. I used a palm frond to give a 'frame in frame' effect. I also broke

the rule of thirds, to include some sand, to give a 'near to far'

    treatment.

    Thanks for viewing.

    Hi Matt,

It's hard to get right first time (especially looking at the sun!). I took a series of 5 or shots and chose the one that got the effect I wanted.
