The lighting across the landscape sometimes says all that needs to be
said. The aim was simplicity.

Megan Gale on the catwalk at the David Jones VIP shot, in Brisbane,
Australia. She has a look I call 'smoulder' - here it is.

Great colors - well captured. It's sharp and well exposed.
-
The image suffers from a couple things. 1) Noise - maybe the iso was too high or you had to bump up the brightness. 2) Frontal flash - gives harsh shadows and flat light with no 'modeling'. 3) Distraction of the door frame. Try again removing those three problems and you'll have a winner.

Your subject matter is a bit jumbled. Try to make it clearer for the viewer what you want them to see, what you want them to feel.

As a thumbnail this image leaps out at the viewer, and then at a larger size it's even better! Great use of depth of field, gorgeous treatment of the body and intense look - full marks, buddy.

What an intense gaze - well captured. Even if not a nude (i.e. just the headshot), this image would be a winner.

RAW conversion curve used to blow out city highlights. Layers with
colored halos (gaussian blurred) added to give the 'explosion'.

I used a palm frond to give a 'frame in frame' effect. I also broke
the rule of thirds, to include some sand, to give a 'near to far'
treatment.

Shot outdoors under broken sun, with flash into brolly and some
on-camera fill flash for catchlights.

When I saw this amazing pattern in this pine stud, I had to get a
picture of it. I used a sepia finish to give it some 'old world'
charm and depth.

Hi Matt,
It's hard to get right first time (especially looking at the sun!). I took a series of 5 or shots and chose the one that got the effect I wanted.

On the contrary, I do find the extra parts add to the fluidity, and subtly too. Excellent work.
