Thank you Andre. I usually ignore the proportion rules and try to fill the frame with whatever captures my eye at that moment in time. I find this kind of photos a lot more expressive. Especially since the tyranny of thirds becomes an ordeal when one has to photograph on the go, like it was the case here. Groups visiting the Parliament Building in Ottawa don't usually get to stroll in leisure inside the building, but rather have to follow their guide; a nice and beautifull young lady by the way so I'm not complaining :)
Thank you again for your kind comment.

Thank you, Neil, for you kind comments. They are pretty fast, indeed. Here they were exiting the pit stop lane and especially on friday, a free practice day, they were varying the speeds and accelerations a lot. I had set my camera on shutter priority and used a shutter speed between 1/250s and 1/400s. This one here was on 1/250s, F14, 220mm and ISO 400. I had to increase the ISO speed because of the lens: on that friday it was a bit cloudy and the maximum aperture is f5.6 on the long end of my lens.
Besides, I really tried my best to make do with the position and equipment I have had available. The position itself was great for panning (in the stands that is) and the equipment was up to the task within limits of course; a press pass is next to impossible to obtain for a non-professional; the rules are draconian in F1; as for a dream lens... well maybe some other time :) . Even so, IMO, it was worth it and then some. You should try to go next year. It is a unique experience and a must for a motorsport enthusiast with a camera :)
All the best, Cristi

Hello Neil
I was using a 70-300 G lens. Kinda slow but it did the job, though.
Cheers,

Didn't get the chance to put all the photos up. This intervention truck was going to an accident site where some 15 cars where damaged.

A quiet little pond. Any thoughts?

I see the trolls are back at work. Please, anybody who feels they must rate a photo below 4 or above 6 have the decency and explain why. Otherwise it just wastes time and provokes lack of confidence in the way this website is run. Anyway, I guess I'll stick to critique only from now on.

Modern architecture on Isle Ste Helene in MOntreal.

A bit of an unusual composition so what do you think? I chose this
title because the building depicted is the Montreal Casino.
-
I put this one as street photo since no other category seems
appropiate. She was a girl working at the Canadian F1 Grandprix last june.

I decided to use this for critique only. So you have opinions about my
photographs and time to share them please drop me a few words... I'm
all eyes.

and I'm sorry about making Juan Pablo a Fin :) Honest mistake. Thank you for pointing that out. I'll try and look to see if I have a good shot with the entire car of Montoya. The only problem with this is I don't think I have many photos with him and also he retired early on in the race.
check this one out: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=4646549
Thanks again for stopping by and if you have the time look at my other photos from that week-end.
P.S.: Uploadet a new one. This one is full :) Even though I kinda like the other one, too :)

Despite the condition of the car this driver actually finished the race.
Would you mind sharing you impressions with respect to this shot?

No interest sparked because it doesn't look sexy. It has more of a wife sex-appeal than that of a lover sex-appeal. How many poeple do you know who admitelly say they love their signifficat other's body?
When I said it doesn't look sexy I meant just that. Because it sure is. Congrats on your ideea and execution.

Always a pleasure to admire your photos. They're ... alive :)
BTW: I know it's not motorsport and a bit late, but I just wanted to congratulate you for the socceroos performance against Japan. Let's hope they can get at least one more point in the next two matches even if it's going to be tough to do it.
Cheers.

I see somebody is playing again with the 3s anonimously. I mean, guys, don't you have more important things to do in life? Pathetic! Anyway, if anybody wants to tell me I'm a lousy shooter please have the decency of doing so under your own name while explaining your arguments.
Whatever!
For the normal people around, have fun making wonderfull photos!

I guess I'm biased because I was there and I know the subject. Your choice looks good but because of my bias it looks like she's trying to argue because of that space in front of her. Whereas I saw her as a bit surprised at the time. She was in a very good mood. Sorry, but I think I'll stick to the original version.
Thank you for taking the time to show me something new and intriguing.
