Monte, of course I was only joking!

Alright Monte....you've done it again! Great capture! So tell me, LA Zoo or San Diego Zoo? ;-)

Incredible capture! I've heard of these birds, but never saw one before. I sure hope to get a chance to shoot one one day. This one looks like he's pretending to be a duck.

Great species shot, Bill. I especially like the posing on both birds with similar head angle. This could be a page out of a field guide.

Not sure Don, but it looks like some type of cuckoo. Where in the world were you when you shot this? It's a great photo, good exposure and the details are sharp, maybe a little more room on the right would be nice.

OUTSTANDING!!!! I told you to be patient and that you'll get this shot! OUTSTANDING!

Don, nice photo. Difficult to get the black and white with good exposure. Where did you find this bird?

Great timing, Monte. Nice exposure and I really like the depth of field.

"Oh what a thing to do..."

Great timing. These little guys sure are fast. I look forward to the day that I can capture one as well as this. 7/7

I would agree with Pine Siskin based upon the shape of the tail. Great photo. I really like the composition with the even toned background and no clutter. Focus is sharp from tip to tail with a good head angle.

After living in Ventura county for so many years, it took my move to Boise, Idaho before I saw my first Cal Condor. It was a breeder at the Peregrine Fund program here in Boise and it was in a breeding cage. Impressive bird! Wonderful capture. Thanks for posting it!

Excellent photo. I'd like to know how to shoot such a fast little duck like this and swing a 500mm lens with this kind of accuracy. And to top it off, the lighting is nearly perfect with the head colors just popping. 7/7

Nice capture, Bill. I like the dead-on side view.

What a great image of such a beautiful bird.

OK, I'm now officially envious. I need this one for my life list and photo list. The exposure, composition and focus are spot on.

I like the simplicity of this image. I would clone out that dark area on the upper left corner and maybe crop away the forked part of the branch. Just my opinion.
