Bill, I think you are correct. My wife and I discussed this yesterday. I thought it was a pine siskin, she was certain it was the sparrow. I told her that someone on PN would tell me if I labeled it incorrectly. Thank you...very much:-)

I would agree with Pine Siskin based upon the shape of the tail. Great photo. I really like the composition with the even toned background and no clutter. Focus is sharp from tip to tail with a good head angle.

well, whatever bird it is I very much like the endresult. You've presented it in a very strong and attractive way. Nothing you can't correct but you've got some noise artefacts

Ton, Thanks for your observation, I was actually surprised that I picked up the noise at iso 500, but this was about a 50% crop, and I played with some other adjustments which may be the reason. I'm in the process of looking at some other noise reduction software, but it seems that the best noise reduction is to shoot at base iso in the camera.
