Love this. The dramatic sky and the serene foreground is a very effective combination. I like the almost surreal quality of it. Alex

Nice capture! Like the angle at which you took this and the pose of the bird. I agree that the vegetation frames the bird nicely here, except for the leaf in the lower left corner which is somewhat distracting.

Absolutely love this. 7/7

Love the detail in the face and the pose. Thanks for sharing. Alex

Really like the way the bird seems to be moving into the cattails in this photo. Nice composition. This is an American avocet, not a killdeer.

Great timing! Thanks for sharing.

I didn't add any bluish tone to this photo after it was taken (though I think canon cameras do tend to exaggerate this color a bit in shady conditions). Still, I think most of this tone is "natural." There are other color variations in gopher tortoises with some appearing almost black and others a carmel color (they're rare, though). Thanks for your comment. Alex

Thanks for your kind comments..I took this out at Lake Morton about three weeks ago. The birds there are amazingly tolerant of people which is a big plus when you're shooting with a 105mm lens. I have a lighter version of this photo, but I chose the more somber feeling of the darker photo at the time. I may post a lighter version on here when I get the chance. Alex

Nice capture of a female House Sparrow. A very common bird that is not commonly photographed. Like the unusual red background.

Very nice. Sharp and full of detail. The black and white gives it a very even and appealing tone.

This is just amazing. What a tremendous capture of a Great Grey Owl. 7/7

Burrowing owls "decorate" their burrow entrances during the nesting season. In highly developed areas such as Cape Coral, they often utilize bits and pieces of garbage to satisfy their "aesthetic vision."
