Elements 3 does have a raw converter...what camera are you using...perhaps its a camera that has been released after you got e3...maybe you need to download an update off the adobe website...to make it compatible...

Im kind of curious...I just bought a fully dedicated registry cleaner...and the computer is up and running much better than before I cleaned the registry...perhaps I'm not aware if it was faster when it was newer...but it certainly is faster than before...thanks

I really like epsons premium semi gloss...you're excited about the 3800...I was thinking about an r2400 but then the announcement of the r3800 came around...16x20 printing is something I would like to do especially when I get into large format and when I start printing my 6X7 mf negatives...500 every 6months isn't something I look forward to though...I don't know if I've spent that much in printing in the whole time I have had my 20d(3 years)...perhaps if I include costco printing...it will exceed 500...if I get the printer...I will no longer go to costco to get prints made...

This is not a digital vs film argument...it's more about professional
landscaping...I have a mf film camera and a 20d...I want to shoot
landscape...perhaps make fine art sales and perhaps get a nice set of stock
photos together...film is a lot more cumbersome than digital...getting enough
film...developing, printing or scanning...I've got a lot to learn... that
said...I want to take a trip in Jan...somewhere...what would you
recommend...nice calumet cadet or a 5d...does anyone sale fine art photos with
a 5d...I always hear people say they want to shoot ff dslr for landscape...are
they all amateurs...I know pros do use digital to shoot portraiture...but
landscape...I've seen great prints with 35mm film...but i've yet to see the
refinement of those shots on digital...thanks...ok...there is a bit of a
digital vs film question...but we know a great film large format images is
pretty much the best we can get...unless one buys a state of the art digital
back...then the serious question of digital vs film...might begin...but I'm not
in that market as most of us are not...I'd like to get some good shots
together...I doubt I'll get acceptable results from the large format camera
immediately and to be frank I've yet to get stunning images on my mf...part of
the reason is the lens...90mm on an rz67 pro II not my favorite
perspective...I'd like a bit wider...50mm (boy that thing is a grand
used)...which is why I'm even thinking about getting a large format...why spend
this much money on a mformat lens when large format is where I'll probably end
up...getting a 5d with rebate seems very enticing; it will yield a lot of shots
that I will be happy with immediately as well as be able to use it for
portraiture and shoot the occasional wedding...the landscape right now is for
my personal enjoyment...Thanks

Hello...I don't know if you tried this or not...but turn off the display screen...it should help with lag...That said...I love my 20d...but certain images as well as convenience could you may want to see if you can keep your p and s around and try to learn to shoot it as effeciently as possible...turning off flash can also help with lag...The dslr though for action shots...soccer...will not be matched by any p and s...lessons would help...but as soon as you get your camera...start shooting and questions you have(exposure control, auto focus, manual focus, depth of field, shutter speed, printing, lens choices, can be searched for on this website...very valuable...you can use the search at top of the website page or ask another question as you already have if you can't find the answer you seek...enjoy and happy holidays ALL!

I have a 2gb kingston elite 50x card...I've can never tell the difference between the sandisk ultra and that card when shooting but when downloading them to a computer you can tell the difference... the sandisk is minutes faster...not enough time to worry about...

Personally if you're not doing it professionally you won't need a 5d...I'd experiment more with off camera flash...perhaps see what you can do with two flashes with an off camera cord(probably want to try the experiments asap)...before any wedding shots...I'd look at others wedding photography...it's not a good time to try this all right before the wedding since the wedding is only two weeks away but do it the way you'd normally do it as well as try new things perhaps not in the most crucial of shots...if you do decide to get a new body...make sure you use the body you are most familiar with to get those crucial shots...getting a wedding shot can be especially nerve racking ...I said if you're not doing it professionally you won't need a 5d...unless you want to do blow ups or lots of cropping...then a 5d is pretty much needed even for an amateur...the expenses do add up...computers,printers,lights,back drops, lenses...thank god memory prices is dropping...this certainly can add up and you still haven't got the price of upgrading bodies...good luck

I know the M1 hasn't been release but do think it will be better than the
v700 or v750...I want it to scan medium format and probably large format in
the future...Thanks
-
I'm kind of curious...Frank...did you shoot the digital shot on a tripod...at 8x10 you'd think there wouldn't be that big of a difference...especially with a flatbed scanner...I wonder if there would be that big a difference with my 20d, tripod, and 10-22mm lens vs 4x5 and fuji provia...currently I have a mamiya rz67 proII and trying to decide which scanner...thanks
-
Personally I'd buy the new 580ex...just because it's new...you know the history...and get a back up flash just in case of failure...were talking about a wedding...I guess you could rent the back up...but it's not like renting a digital body which could upgrade every 18 months or so...+ you could do a two flash set up during formals...

Well...I think Nikon might be a bit further behind...they have to rely on Sony to make the ff chip...does Sony want to do this...perhaps if they put a lot of resouces into this or steal the Canon secrets...Nikon probably would be best served at making the best darn aps-c camera they can make...and the best point and shoots...

I haven't read too much about about it...I have adobe elements 3...it looks
like there are some color calibrating that could be useful...what feature(s)
are really useful...that isn't included in elements 5...the price is really
good at fry electronics...69.99 and then $50 rebate...19.99...I know I know
rebates aren't too much fun...but they draw you in...I'm this close to buying
a 5d and a 17-40...mostly because of the double rebates...right now I have
about 3 rebates I have to do...post thanksgiving deals...on line fry's has 2
gig ultra II sandisk card for 37.99...I got mine for 39.99 each at compusa on
Thanksgiving Day...believe it or not it was packed with bargain
hunters...anyone else got cool deals...

There is a down side to focusing with 90mm and no 1 extension...the working distance is so close to the subject...the 140 macro should give you more room...I know the 50mm uld is more expensive...but that's the lens I would think about getting...especially for the minimum focusing distance...

Hello I'm kind of curious which scanners exceed my 20d when scanning my
rz67 proII negatives...I would like to get a scanner somewhere between 500 and
$1000...I wouldn't mind getting a negative scanner...but the 1,800 for the
nikon 9000 is exceeding my budget...I'm thinking about buying a 5d...I
wouldn't mind the scanner to exceed the images of the 5d as well...is the
negative scanner the only answer...

Anna...How new is it...if you purchased it new at an authorized us dealer and not grey market. then you can get 300 in rebate money and if you purchase say an 85mm f1.8 at an authorized dealer then you can get 340 extra...that should be incentive to buy a new lens...I think the 100 f2 and the 50mm f1.4 are also on the list too...I own the 85mm f1.8 which I will say is my vote for the 5d...I don't use it all that much for portraits opting for my 50 f2.8 macro...but if the 5d wasn't purchased new, not in usa...or was grey market...I would think a 50mm f1.8 could fit a budget minded person...but if you want head shots you'll be pretty close on the person you're shooting...

I was wondering if an rb extension tube can be used on an rz67...
-
I have a rz67 pro II with 90mm f4.5...I had planned on getting a macro
lens...but it seems I will need to get a extension tube to make it useful for
what I want to shoot(small flowers and leaves)...so I thought I would just get
an extension tubes first and use it with the 90mm and see if I like the
results...my question is how much magnification could I get out of the
extension tubes...(45 and 82mm)...with the 90mm or the 140mm macro...Thanks
-
I'm new to medium format...I wanted to print big...40X50 inch...I was wonder
if at that size would you really see the difference between the different 50mm
lenses...uld vs w...this question probably has been asked alot but I couldn't
find it in a search...thanks
-
I just bought a used rz 67 pro II...I was wondering if I could use my 580
ex canon flash...do I just need an adapter...anyone using this combo...thanks..

best set up for beginner(imo) rebel xt...50f1.8...17-40...70-200f4 or 70-300is...difficult to answer...you can get great landscapes with the 17-40l...at this time you may be able to find good deals on the 10-22 efs...which is very sharp...but efs will limit you...The reason why I say get the rebel...is that image wise it is close to the 20d...it's handling may not be as easy...but you'll save and be able to get better lenses...which will definitely show up in the image...don't feel too pressured but canon is offering rebates right now that expire soon...go to the website for details...good luck
-
Has anyone compared the sharpness of these two lenses at 100-
300...If they're pretty equal...I would probably get the 70-300
is...walk around with that...and pull out the big gun 400 f5.6 when
needed...walking around with a 100-400 all the time would only be
worth it if sharpness was that much better...Does anyone think Canon
is going to upgrade the 100-400 soon...thanks
-
Hello...I agree...they work pretty good...I'm on my third one...not because of failure...I've lost two of them...absent mindedness...
-
Depending what all around work you're talking about...personally if I were street shooting and at parties the 17-85 efs works well for that because of the range...but if you're doing landscape and architexture...the 17-40 f4 will do better less barrel distortion, less ca, and less flaring...get this with a 50 f1.8 or macro and a 70-200 f4 you'll be good to go...

Hi all...I wouldn't say people are way too sensitive to take offense at reading a word that's been used as a racial slur...no matter how innocent the intent is...it shows a bit of insensitivity and unawareness to a culturally diverse forum...
