Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention...good to see another film shooter here...

I like this composition alot. This is one of my favorites of yours. Compression is bedeviling the image, though...I wish that I could see the actual print, it must be very nice.
I agree with the previous critique about halving the image. Perhaps cropping it square (in from the left)would be interesting...?
I like your work. Its good to see another analog shooter here.

Ken:
I generally like the composition and different view that you have here. But my eye/brain is fighting withe the yellow/brown tones v. the cyans in the sky.
Might I suggest desaturating and working this as a b/w image? Perhaps even playing around with sepia toning...just a thought.

Joe

Well seen! Many wouldn't think to break out the kit on a day like this. Photo opportunities are everywhere, in all kinds of weather.
Cheers.

Very nice.

I like your set on arches here. Very nice.
I don't know why, but I especially like this one.

I like it. Arch within an arch...nice lines.
I would like to have seen a wee bit more depth of field to bring the other end of the smaller arch more into focus. A little bit more shadow detail would help it too.
Still a very nice composition.

I don't have a problem with the desaturization of the photo. It does convey movement nicely. I have to agree with the previous critique concerning cutting off her feet.

Nice composition.
I like the fact that this is a film based image and that you went with b&w here. Many people would automatically go for a color image of this scene, with all of the brilliance that the basilica offers. But tone and texture is a nice departure from the norm.
My only knock, is that on my monitor, the image seems a little soft, lacking detail. Could this be the scan? I love the light shafts in the dome.

Yes, the roof is very interesting. But, when I was composing, I really wanted the pumps to take center stage. I may have a shot or two from that trip of the entire building.
The camera that I thought got the good shots from back a bit was my 4x5 Crown Graphic. But unfortunately, I was a bit on the stoooopid side that day...I double exposed the four negatives...thought I had eight shots...now I have none...go figure.
Thanks for taking the time.

Toning is great; good choice!
I don't know why, but the image compels me to view it. It's a bit strange (jmo) but very interesting.
Yeah, you can't see his face...oh, well...
interesting...

Very nice tones...
Its it me, or are the verticles a little off? Appears to be leaning right, just a bit...
Nice exposure.

I like it! The feel for the gentle curve of the street is nice.
My eye wants to see more of the street level, especially the canopies; but thats being picky.

Your constructive criticism is always welcome.
I visited an old general store, (after having driven past for 15
years)on our annual trip to the beaches of North Carolina. The
antique gas pumps caught my eye right away.
After the property owner came out and I assured her that I would not
sell any of the images, she gave me a guided tour of the store,
complete with its history. It was like stepping back 40-50 years! It
was truly a memorable experience.
