How observant. Even if the tree wasn't inscribed it would still be a beautiful shot.

That is really creative Tim. I've never seen anything like that before. Are they hard to find?

I like it and agree with Ben, but I'm not fond of the color of the sky.

Thank you for the comment Jose... indeed we must. I'm routinely amazed we are able to feed as many people as we do, what with urban and industrial sprawl claiming some of the most productive areas.

Hi Marc,
the structure you're refering to is simply a rural power box. The difference in field of view is probably due to the fact that one was taken with a wide lens, and the other with a narrower lens and a different camera. The time between them is little more than a year, when it was bought by a corporate land developer whose plans have since stalled leaving the land as you see it on the right. The orange survey marker, deep tracks, and partial grading are clues that it is not just some kind of fall ploughing.
thanks,
Aaron

A once beautiful and productive field laid to waste for speculative
industrial land use.
Thanks to all the comments and suggestions previously given.

Very nice! I like how the pine needles stand out.

Beautiful shot. The edge lighting on the wings is striking. I like the fact that you got it coming in low.

Hi Noel,
it was about 5 hours. Looking back, I'm actually surprised there wasn't more shadow detail recorded. I might have to take another look at the slide to make sure. Thanks for your comment.

I like the composition. You've chosen an angle that places the brighter cloud behind the rock and it works well. Judging by the light that this was taken in (and the levels of the image itself), I think there is a lot of room to expand the highlights. You might consider something like this: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7957478 though perhaps not as dark in the sky.

Strong composition, too! You've made the most of the lavender furrows, and they do contrast well with the sunflowers. Great Provence shot.

This is possibly the best outdoor shot of a columbine I've seen.

Love the title! I'm might use it in the future, hope you don't mind :-) Like Simon says, the tones on the wheat are very good.

Vastly superior to the first scan. I never had a chance to try K25 before they discontinued it.

Super shot! This conveys to me a sense of both harmony between the kayaker and the water and being furiously tossed around by it.
-
Horseshoes all around then for this image!
-
Very good shot. Imposing perspective!

I've been in the mountains, but have never had or seen quite such a halo around a shadow. Amazing!

The rocks and fallen tree create an interesting radial pattern out from just beneath the waterfall. Surprisingly dynamic.

Afshin, thanks for the comment. I think you might be on to something about the focus. Where would you like to see it? I placed it at the bottom of the leaf, towards the "heart" of the lily. Using a wide aperture to blur the background, resulted in only one anther in sharp focus.

Jack, it's just a pole, but that the same time, the photograph is more than just a pole. I feel it's a pretty strong allegory.
Cheers,
Aaron
