    Jewel Bug...

......from you, so far and I am sure you have not shot your best shot yet!

this is a nice picture excellent color, contrast and rendition. You have used the opportunity very nicely.

I recommend you send it to TAMRON to show them the quality of the lens and your work! They may even select it for their adverisement and who knows, you may get rich or at least get a lens from them as a gift!

Keep up the good work and let us enjoy your photography!

  1. This is a remarkable image in my opinion, considering the facts that the effective aperture was around 40 where diffraction severely limits the quality. I think the photographer has shown what he wanted to show- the most intersting part of the shot -the compound eyes- and has done a wonderful job of it!

I am amazed at the comments. How can this picture be sharp except at a paper thin plane as the DOF here is a whooping 0.4 mm roughly ? The eyes are in focus and that is what matters. I guess lack of experience with handling a lens like this is the primary cause of the complaint of this nature!

As far as owning the best lenses of the world goes-The other day I saw a very nice signature line in an e-mail from  a budding photog. It said "Having a Nikon camera does not make you a better photographer, it makes you a Nikon owner". If  owning the lenses and camera bodies would have made someone a great photographer, I would have been infinite times better that Ansel Adams but alas- the sad reality is something else!

Let us give credit where credit is due and for this picture Kudos to you Partha!

    Just my 0.02 cents

..if you would have used your polarizer ! Probably long exposure risk prevented it, right ?

Overall,  a nice picture ! What a colorful bug !

  2. One of your better shots, even though I do not like the artificial background! Wish it was shot in its environment1

The lighting is a little harsh due to the directness. A simple white cloth used s a diffuser would have worked nice but overall, very nice color rendition and I like the composition.

    Nice focus and nice DOF.

Keep up the good work-to enjoy more -graduate to an SLR.

..Looks like this guy is ready to take it -whatsoever is coming !

Nice background ! I would have liked him more if we had an angled shot showing his face/eyes.

    Overall, nice one.

    partha,

I like the dreamy quality of the picture, more so probably because I know exactly where it was shot!

Good job-as usual! Keep it up.

.... a shot with a totally black background looses appeal for me as it instantly gives the feeling of an artificial lighting and background !

    Just my 2 cents!

  3. For liking this wonderful gentleman.

Andrew, I have already narrated the story .. spent only a few minutes with him by the roadside ! I was fascinated with him! Dont know anything more. I definitely plan to visit his place next time when I go home in India

Christal, I have not yet come across somebody in rural India who would not let me take his pictures! Women are, at times, hesitant but that is because of the culture.

Most of them are actually happy and pose for you-especially when you are one of them, speaking their language.

My conclusion, eating less is helpful for long, happy, disease free life !

  4. Spotted by a roadside hut in Tripura-India. Per family he is 107 years

old and is on no medications. Stone deaf-has one tooth left and he is

    always happy!

What a wonderful way to be demented!

  5. ...I just love it ! It has a dreamy quality and the simplicity and the innocent look is stunning to me! I felt good looking at the picture!

Congrats on achieving a stunning success in presenting an image so artistically !
