  1. Advertising Standards Authority, the ad industry watchdog in the UK, has banned an advertisement by Lancome featuring

Julia Roberts for being misleading, stating that the flawless skin seen in the photo was too good to be true. Parliament

member Jo Swinson first brought the ads to the authority’s attention, and later told the BBC: <br>

<blockquote>This ruling demonstrates that the advertising regulator is acknowledging the dishonest and misleading nature of

excessive retouching. Pictures of flawless skin and super-slim bodies are all around, but they don’t reflect

    reality.</blockquote>

  3. <b>. . . . ...... Right to Shoot in London !?</b><br>

On June 21, 2011, non-profit organization <u>Shoot Experience</u> sent out only 6 photographers to various parts of

London to see the current state of photographers’ rights.<br>

Few photographers used tripods, and others used hand held. All were instructed to keep to public land and photograph the

area as they would on a normal day. <br>

The main of that event was aimed to test the policing of public and private space by private security firms and their reaction

    to photographers.<br>

  4. Not sure if you tried to scan film using an ordinary flatbed scanner, and I am sure you found it that it doesn't work very

good. The reason is because film needs to be illuminated from behind, while conventional scanners capture light that’s

reflected off what they’re scanning. <br>

Now, you are able to scan your film with a simple idea from Andrew Lewis which you can read more about it <a

  5. The World’s Largest photo will be on display in the <a href="http://sweeney.ucr.edu/exh_topic.lasso">UCR Sweeney Art

    Gallery</a> in 16th July 2011 till 8th October 2011. <br>

This large image was taken in a jet-hangar created by 6 photographic artists collectively known as The Legacy Project,

aided by 400 volunteers, artists in July 2006. The group hand-applied 80 liters of gelatin silver halide emulsion to a seamless

9.62 X 33.83 meters canvas substrate custom-made in Germany. Development was done in a custom Olympic pool-sized

developing tray using ten high volume submersible pumps and 1,800 gallons of black and white chemistry. Then they used a

    pinhole camera which was measuring 13.71 x 48.76 x 24.38 meters.<br>

  7. @ Joseph <br>

First of all thank you for your music, and interesting lyric. Not sure the singer was you or your friend. Anyhow thank you .<br>

About theses crazy rays (Lazer & Gamma, and perhaps few more), I should say that I saw the videos in Youtube, as well as watching and listening to the explanation of <a href="

Hummel</a> at Cine Gear Expo 2011, made me believe to buy a DSLR would be a mistake.<br>

I guess I am wrong as almost every photographers are using DSLR cameras these days.<br>

So for that reason, please forgive me for lack of knowledge.

  8. In 2013, the European Space Agency will launch the Gaia spacecraft. Its billion-pixel imaging sensor will be among the

largest digital cameras ever to exist, and over the course of its mission, it's estimated that Gaia will detect 15,000 new alien

    planets.<br>

Gaia's gigantic sensor is comprised of 106 separate CCD sensors, mosaiced together to form a monster camera over three

feet wide. The resulting imaging system is so powerful that it will be able to precisely measure the width of a hair from over

600 miles away, and from here on Earth, it could spot a dime on the moon.<br>

  9. <b>Correction</b> - Due to Tsunami-Fukushima disaster, the arrival Sony A77 and A65 have been delayed to late August

    2011. The shipment start early October 2011.<br> (or 30/08/2011) ((Numerology: 3 + 0 + 0 + 8 + 2 + 0 + 1 + ! = 3 + 8 + 2

    + 1 + 1 = 15 --> 1 + 5 = 6) <br>

Sony A77 will be Sony’s new top APS-C model and replace the now very old Sony A700 .<br>

The A77 uses a new double Bionz processor and a newly developed 3 million dot OLED EVF. It takes more than 10 frames

per seconds and has 11 cross AF points. Of course it can record videos at FullHD. It has a new USB 3.0 connection (with

transmission speeds of up to 5 Gbit/s). Both cameras will have built-in GPS.<br>

  10. OmegaCAM, is the only monster camera uses 32 CCD sensors and a 268-megapixel resolution, weighing 770kg is the

latest digital technology that European Southern Observatory is using for it's new VLT Survey Telescope, a wide-field survey

telescope with a field of view twice as broad as the full moon. Each image has roughly 30 terabytes.<br>

It was developed by scientists from Germany, Italy and The Netherlands. It has been designed at the Astronomical

Observatory of INAF at Capodimonte, Naples. All components apart from the main optics, which were supplied by the

Russian firm LZOS, have been built by Italian industries. <br>

The first OmegaCAM image released by the ESO shows the star-forming region Messier 17, known as the <a

    href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/10/vlt-survey-telescope-snaps-out-of-this-world-photos-with-268-meg/">

Omega Nebula</a>, or the Swan Nebula. The VST field of view is "so large that the entire nebula, including its fainter outer

parts, is captured — and retains its superb sharpness across the entire image," the ESO says. <br>

  11. I think the best strap so far I have seen would be the Rapid R-Strap which comes in two versions.<br>

Here Ron Henry show us how this strap help the photographer to shoot fast. <br>

Please watch his short video <a href="

    here</a>.<br>

By the way does anybody know what is that electric box on the far right corner of the image? Is it an external HD? - Thanks
