"Medium format for sports and digital for landscapes"
did you get this backwards?
for fine art work, you should pick whatever medium you like according to their look. you'll
most likely be starting with 35mm in photo school then moving on as you learn more
about your work and other formats/media. same for b&w vs. colour - it's an artistic
choice.
-
vuk - i wasnt aware there were invalid photo techniques when good photos emerge. do
you feel important now, "bad boy?"
-
ken rockwell makes it clear you should form your own opinions. film is cheap; if you're
serious about it, buy a couple rolls and test it yourself instead of reading what people you
don't know
think.
-
used gear at adorama (and b&h) is overpriced. go to keh or buy off photo.net.
-
this obsessing reminds me of people talking in movie theatres
-
and going to keep doing so in 2006, 2007, and so on. maybe they'll be forced to change
their name! "friendly's cameras" or something.
the really sad thing is all you can do is get your money back and rant a bit, can't slap em
into the atlantic.

for "cheap" rooms, try hotwire.com. you can probably pick up a 3~4 star hotel (some quite
decent for a solo trip) for around 150~180/night or so. taxes/fees'll kick in about
50~60 dollars for the 2 night stay, so that's 350~420 for lodging. you can get by in
regards to food and the rest if you're sticking to the 470 range but what fun would that
be? shell out a little extra, you'll still be saving!
btw - why not go for a demo/mint- m7? rich pinto should have a couple. save another
few/several hundred usd.
-
actually it has been discussed. image quality is comparable to the pre-asphs. build
quality isn't too bad, but obviously not leica. i found the aperture ring somewhat flimsy.
sold mine because i didn't like the speed and aper ring, not because of image quality.
-
oh and if you are in philly and want to look at a couple leicas, let me know. i'm a student,
too, though not an "art" one anymore.
-
the "D this and D that posts" are usually evidently "digital" from their titles, and since you
probably wouldn't visit the proposed "nikon digital" forum, why don't you just skip the
threads? takes my eye, hm, a millisecond?
-
i realised a while ago that irony is not at all strange; it is so very expected from all the
familiar entities of the world.
-
obviously the fm2n/leica m bodies will have no direct effect on resolution. as to lenses,
generally leica lenses will be "better" at larger apertures. the bigger question is if you
prefer rangefinders to slrs.
do you go to school in philly? call leica usa and ask about if they still offer a student
discount (20% off). on an old form i have there's this blurb:
"For pre-approval, please contact Cathy Easer at Leica Camera Inc,tel: (201) 767 7500, fax:
(201) 767 8666, e-mail: cathy.easer@leicacamerausa.com"
-
"It's hard to say who won."
sure, if your first name starts with p and last name with r.
-
"Is there a real difference between Leica and non-Leica filters for ASPH Leica lenses"
count the dollars when you buy b+w mrc filters. better glass too.
-
sounds good to me
-
-
both have minimal grain. the kodak film will print better on colour paper.
-
try one of the chromogenic B&W films so they can be processed using C-41 chems at the
lab. ilford xp-2 or kodak 400cn
-
i'd pick up an RX. it's solid - my guess is it would've accepted your beating - the shutter/
mirror is very well-damped, motor advance is quiet, focus indicator may be beneficial,
spot metering. no matrix metering, if that matters. i don't often use the camera's meter,
but when i do, exposures are accurate. i bought mine used (excellent) off KEH, too, and
it's never given me a problem.
-
simple answer: it may add some blur
-
stick with B+W

D2X Prices
in Nikon
i figure they're trying to hook anyone who just must have the d2x by showing a price when
no one legit is. photo.net places a google ad bar on top but can't control what's run
inside.

eugene - those are the happenings that make short stories.

i find her work quite accessible, certainly interesting. an intellectual
with ideas, she gained my respect and made me think; her work makes me
think - and i thank her for
that.
I have an M3 and an Voigtlander RA3.....sell both and get an M6?
in Leica and Rangefinders
