1.
No, I meant it does not make the click sound. I am sorry for having been unclear.

 2.
Yesterday I was out with a group of people. Among them was the good friend who had bought my Variosix F a few years ago. He told me he had solved the battery consumption problem of the meter! It just took him three months of extensive use . :-) The analysis I had made in my post of Dec 15, 2013 was basically right. The problem was within the soft pouch of the Variosix F. The flap has a few soft compartments to store exchangeable cones. When you close the flap there is a good chance that one of the cones touches a button on the side of the meter. That is the culprit! He removed one of the cones and now battery consumption is just fine. I feel I have to let you know because I have warned against the use of this meter on several occasions. The meter itself is just excellent, it was the battery consumption that had put me off .......

Ferdi.

 3.
Hold the DISP/BACK button while switching on. That will show the firmware version of the body and the lens, providing one is mounted. For other lenses you will have to mount that particular lens. A list of current firmware versions is on the Fuji website. Yes, when the camera has the current version you only need to update the lens firmware. As a matter of fact it is not possible the update firmware when it is the current version. Do not worry. Reading the instructions it looks quite complicated, but in real life it is quite easy to check and update Fuji firmware.

 4.
Hello Daniel,

From 1953 until 1961 the Rollei factory marketed a Rolleigrid Fresnel lens that could be dropped into the finder hood. The Rolleigrid was seated under two notches in the finder (front and back) on top of the ground-glass. It was meant for cameras with a real glass ground-glass, not the later plastic bright-screen. That one already had a built-in Fresnel.
Your plan to stack is not new. See if your camera has the notches. Then the Fresnel has to have the right size and thickness to fit: 54 x 58.5 x 1.1 mm. The grid side should be turned to the ground-glass.

Ferdi.

 5.
Hi Victor,

There is a known problem with PX28 batteries making unreliable contact in modern Rolleiflexes. I have described it here:
http://www.rolleigraphy.org/information.php#batteries
In those cases the battery check green light will not turn on because there is no juice at all. Your problem seems different. The battery check is OK (green) and the exposure meter still does not work. Nevertheless make sure it is not "short battery issue" or the "partly unscrewed battery cover" problem.

Ferdi.

 6.
You have not mentioned changing the battery and checking the contacts. That would be my first approach. May be there is enough power left for the display but not enough to operate the lens motor.

 7.
I own one myself. Bought it new around 1976 at a time I thought I was rich. Later I found out I wasn't. Over the years I have sold most of the lenses and the RTSIII but kept the RTS and the 1.4 Planar 50 mm for old times sake. I shall check the finder but that may take a week or two. I am away from home. I also own the Real Time Winder and still have the manuals.
Ferdi.

 8.
Quite a lot of people are enthusiastic about the focus peaking but I regard it as utterly crap. I guess it is rather personal. On the positive side, I have used a Nikkor 2.8/24 mm (MF) on the X-E1 and there was hardly any need for focusing at all. I left the lens at infinity most of the time. Off course it will be different with longer lenses.
http://www.rolleigraphy.org/frames/sloten0042.html
Ferdi.

 9.
To use a Rolleikin you will always need a Rolleikin counter knob regardless of the camera model. Rolleikin sets with and without the knob have been made. The sets without the knob are meant for cameras that are already fitted out with a suitable knob. Some camera series left the factory with the knob, other cameras had one fitted later on.
