Some of your shots at 400 appeared to have distinctly larger grain than what I normally get, so was wondering how you get them. Nowadays I'm trying out Diafine and some other film combinations, e.g., the one below is Neopan 400 in Diafine. I like some of the results quite a bit... no need to control agitation and temperature if the exposures have been spot on :-)

Excellent... just the right mood for this shot. Lovely b&w.

My friends took a while to realize the content of this picture :)
All critiques are welcome.

That is what I call a really nice capture of `life.' Canonical, and no exaggeration here; perfect exposure. I think you should concentrate on `street life' a little more; it comes naturally to you.

Seems precariously balanced... I admire the way you handle color pictures---I never could do it :-)
Best regards.

Congratulations for the POW!!! Sublime indeed. I think the title and Philipp's first comment above should be read. The picture conveys his thoughts succinctly, traditional composition rules and blah-blah-blah can take a back seat.

@John: No, I didn't write anything in jest at all. The geometry in the streets fascinates me a lot. For a while I've been shooting expressions, but I'm inclining more towards the raw geometry. An adequate synthesis of drama and geometry is, for me, the perfect recipe for a street photograph, and there's plenty of both here.
However, I wish there a little more contrast in the middle grays---there's too much of it, spread over too large an area; I think my discomfort is primarily due to the grass and the comparable dresses of the trio. I hope you don't mind my criticism; I'ld like to see this `jump' out, for it's not a picture comparable to a beach-side scene in the evening.
Best regards.
@Matt: I had asked John a similar question, which he'd answered below one of his pictures; I don't remember which one though, I've got a terrible memory. It'll be a useful pointer to put here I believe.

Can I get a hands-on training from you sometime? :-)

Hi Kasturi, this film was developed in very traditional manner, no surprises here: TriX 400 rated at 1600 and pushed 2 stops in HC110 dil B. Temperature was maintained at 68F (roughly). Printed 8x10 with 40Magenta on variable contrast paper. Rest is just the lens :-)) Frankly speaking this print scan is pretty bad.
I actually wanted to ask you how on earth do you get that level of grain in your pictures?

Delightful... from the thumbnail I thought, ``What on earth is he standing with an umbrella on shifting polynia?'' Then I saw the grass... lovely picture my friend.

I'll agree with Marco and Michel above, or I'ld keep him right at the center... nice tones.
Best regards.

I think you're too far away, the nice composition elements notwithstanding. Also, there appears to be quite a few blown out areas---perhaps the digital effect ;-)
Best regards.
