For me, the artifacts underneath the thighs distracts. The composition is good, using the strong diagonal.

Your sense of composition is good David and the subject matter is appealing but what hurts this image is lack of contrast. I browsed through your portfolio and noticed several of your other photos also suffer from lack of contrast. For a photo to not appear washed out a full range of tonal ranges is what's needed. You have no real blacks here. I noticed that you use Photoshop CS. Look at levels (control-L) and notice the left hand side of the graph. Bring the bottom left arrow over to the right and see if that doesn't help your photo. A bit of sharpening wouldn't hurt either as this also contributes to the image appearing soft.

I like this photo Rafael. I'm drawn to ambiguous images that promote questions. What happened here. Did the original tenents move out? Did they lose hope? The house is obviously in a state of disrepair. In a way this could be interpreted as lost hope, failed expectations. Technically, the photo is OK. I think a better photo could have been taken but the idea that prompted you to record this scene is sound.

The bold contrast between the foreground and background certainly conveys the atmosphere of this photo.

The quality that struck me the most was the lighting in the shot. That and the pleasing composition combine to create a nice photograph.
-
I love the contrast in this photograph. The dense shadows and sparkling highlights make this shot appear very lively.
-
Ahhh, I missed the design completely.

Nicely done confrontational portrait. Technically superb and an interesting subject to boot.
-
Pleasant landscape. IMO, you've reached a good compromise between the sky and the land. Nice colors that are reminiscent of older print films. The entire shot has an "older" feel to it.
-
It's not so much a question of the scan being bad. Don't you have any software that allows you to adjust the contrast? You have no highs or lows. Aside from the obvious technical problems, the out of focus lights in the background distract from the subject.
-
While the colors may be true they seem artificial to me.
-
IMO John, this image could be improved if the foreground was more interesting.

You ask if anyone else shares what you consider an ironic image. Sorry but I don't see it. Are you sure you meant to imply irony?
-
Naturally it doesn't hurt to have an attractive model to boost the appeal of a photo. The added element of what appears to be a family photo is interesting. If the family picture was more dominant the impact might have been stronger. Nonetheless, I find this an interesting image.

I like this image, Geert. If I could make a suggestion, I'd slightly blur the blue background. Other than that I find this image well thought out and interesting.
-
I don't think that the problem with the blurriness can be overlooked. Either next time take a tripod or edit your photos and get rid of the ones that are technically flawed.

Stunning macro, Loris. Any further comment would only detract from this fine image.

This is an amusing shot David. The only negative critisism I have is that the shallow depth of field doesn't extend more towards the otter's face.
-
I like this image Ingi. The design and colors provide an interesting image.

The design of the photo is nice but to me the image seems sterile.
-
Quite frankly Mark, the technical quality of this shot is not very good. The huge dust spot plus the "coffee cup" stain are unforgivable. Sorry.

To my eye the framing is good and the handling of the exposure is too. As you alluded the image does seem to have some quality issues as far as noise goes. I don't mind the noise so much in the sky but the noise in the water (actually it looks more like compression artifacts) are distracting.
