I have just been alerted to the fact that my photo has been chosen as "Photo of the Week" and wanted to say how delighted I am, and how pleased that so many people have taken the time to examine the image, and contribute the interesting and thoughtful critiques that I have just read.
I'm especially grateful to all those regular visitors to my pages who have spoken up in my absence to explain and stand up for my 'artistic vision', if that doesn't sound too pretentious!
The series to which this image belongs has just been self-published as a book called "Inside the Hive" and I hope that if you have chance to take a look at this online, it will place the style and subject matter of this particular image in context.
Thanks again for your comments, and best wishes to everyone. -
Thanks Bob & Carey. I really like this image. My favourite for a while. For a long time I worked to create images of isolation using deep shadows and tiny figures. I see this as a new way for me to explore similar themes, but using a muted colour palette, low contrast and richer texture. Appreciate the positive feedback. Best wishes.

...leaves us looking at nothing.

Another distinctive "Jack" photo...muted pastel colour palette, off centre subject, hidden features...you should collect these ino a presentation or separate folder...it'd be cool to see them as a series.

Very nice, Jack. The monochrome & little splash of colour. Good stuff.

Great, Jack. The colours, contrast, composition...all spot on. A memorable short story told in one picture.

Fab abstract. Lovely tones and I particularly like the way the curve of the reflection on the door matches that of the chain in front. Just a subtle touch of light in the background. The evenly sized divisions and their echo in the tiny divisions of the grille all work together. Little details. Little details that make all the difference! One of my recent favourites.

The slab looks like a starting block...and the pavement grid looks like a racing lane - or train track. Lovely!

A nice and apt one to leave us with for a while. You have a poetic soul, Jack. Look forward to seeing more, when you're ready.
Best wishes.

Lovely tones and blur. I almost think it would be better if the lefthand head were blurred a little. It would make the whole image seem more dreamlike...just a thought.

Lovely lighting (and framing) on this one, Jack. I like it very much.
Best wishes.
