Flash exposure of ball bearing dropped into glass of milk. Tried with

different objects and drops. I wonder how one goes about to get the

perfect symmetry seen in Edgerton's classic image?

The colour of the eyes is amber. However, in this photo I have increased brightness and saturation quite dramatically.

Nice colors, but the tilt horizon and the powerlines spoil the overall composition.

Congrats, really great image with a powerful silhouette. It could be interesting to try cropping out the blue part of the sky, or making it into a panoramic format by cropping from top.

Great. I like the subdued colors. Maybe completely including the boat's shadow would have yielded an even better composition? Still great, though.

Robert: there are a few other shots of various objects in the same folder, but they are not as good. I have many ideas I want to try out, but the main priority now is to get a faster flash to improve sharpness.

BTW, the photo has not been selectively manipulated. The noise in the backgrund eminates from the fibers of the cloth used as a background. Only the shadow area is true black.

The timer circuit is built from cheap standard components. The most expensive part (about $7.00) was the fast solid-state relay (a sort of opto-coupler) that isolates the timer circuit from the flash. I'm not super-savvy in electronics so probably the circuit can be much simplified.
