    Photo taken in the Advent valley on Svalbard, looking west from a

    point about 40 kilometers to the east of the main settlement

    Longyearbyen. In this wilderness, when the snowmobile engines are

    turned off, the arctic silence engulfs us and the grandeur of nature

    and our own delicate position therein becomes strangely clear. This

    experience cannot be captured on film or CCD.

    Peter--thanks for commenting. I had some problems with the exposure at total eclipse. The light is so faint that even at ISO 1600 it was not possible to get a fast enough exposure at f/5.6 I guess for a perfectly sharp image you need a much faster lens or some kind of tracking system.
