1.
"The D700 is the only Nikon FX DSLR that does not have a 100% viewfinder"
Yes, but a 21mm eyepoint, better than the D800, Df,..
Wearing glasses, all in all, I prefer this configuration to a 100%/17mm one.

 2.
Domke F-5XA, with the extra padding recommended by Mukul, and elimination of the label on the front if it comes in red (like mine). Enough room for a M6+50mm, one Hood, 2 filters, one roll of film. Why more?

 3.
Thank you for this dense and comprehensive summary.
By the way, I wish there was some "I like" button for each message on Photonet forums. Mr Photonet, what do you think?

In summary: dont put the films in your suitcase, keep them with you, and you are safe for 12-24 exposures ("passages") with up to 400 iso.
Here is the link:
http://www.stac.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/publications/documents/effet_rx_sup_photo.pdf

"Effet des rayons x émis par les appareils de contrôle des bagages sur les supports photographiques Rapport Service technique de l’aviation civile Juin 2010"
