Nice work all. I will try and post soon with my new Nex 7. cheers

Just purchased a Nex 7. The battery is charging. I am going to use the sony adapter and utilize my Minolta 35 2.0 and 50 1.4. I have read reviews about the E 16mm lens that is less than shining. Has anyone used it and what is your opinion, and can you post some pics please.
I already have the Cosina 15mm 4.5 screwmount from some years ago. I have read that in a review that it has a tendency to purple fringe a lot at the edges, but did not read this in other reviews when used with the Nex 7. Has anyone used these two together and what is your experience please. Pics would be great. thanks in advance!

My a700 is not weatherproof. How do I get one?

Hi Jeff, this site might be helpful

-

My most used lens is the Minolta G 28-70 2.8
I use it both on the A700 and the A850
It is very sharp and has gorgeous bokeh.

Richard, what kind of adapter did you use on the 21mm to get it on the A900? thanks!

I have a first edition of the Minolta 85 1.4. It does not have a focus hold button like later models. But the glass is exactly the same with same formulas and circular aperture. Unless you really need a later model, this one has beautiful bokeh, color etc. It has worked for years and cost the less. My two cent.

Hi Carol, Malcom is right. This forum is for anything photographic that is Minolta, including accessories and lenses that are third party that are for Minolta. A couple of places to check out prices is the website for KEH camera. They are a very good place to purchase used gear. Another, of course, is E bay where you can see what these items are going for. Matthew is correct in his assesment of the worth of your gear. To learn more about your gear, you can also go to www.rokkorfiles.com. This a great place to find out which versions that you have of your gear and how they stand in relation to other versions. These are all good places to start. Have fun and enjoy your new gear.

Thanks everyone for your great replies. Needless to say I am eagerly anticipating using it on my A700 as the walk around everyday type of carry it with me a lot lens. I also have an A850 that I have not really used due to a really busy work schedule, so I am looking forward to trying it on that also. The new SLT cameras don't attract me at this point. My cup is really full. These two dslr's are all that I need. I will try and post sometime after shooting when my schedule allows it. cheers!

Hi Richard, I plan on using it on A700.

I am soon to receive a beautiful minolta 35mm 2.0 from the bay. It comes without a hood. Any suggestions please for a hood that can be found easily enough. It does not, of course, need to be the original hood, but one that works just as well. I would appreciate replies from someone who has actually done this. thanks in advance.

Post some pics when you have them. Where are you getting the mount for this?

-

I would suggest the older minolta 28-70 G. It is a beautiful lens with excellent bokeh, stopped down is very sharp and is built to last. I have had one for a number of years and I consider it my most useful lens. The minolta color rendition is gorgeous. They do come up on ebay for a fair price.

Thank you Kevin and Mark for your helpful replies. Cheers!

Sorry, meant 850 in the title

I am getting an A850 the end of next week. Suggestions please for a CF card to compliment it. It will be a 16 gig card. What type, etc please from members that have an 850 and the card they use. Thanks so much.

John, thanks for your input on the 850. I have not heard any of this from other users. What is your overall impression of what is good? That would be appreciated. thanks.

Is there a way to tell the difference between a XK AE finder and a XK AE-S finder by the outer appearance? Not by looking into a mounted one, but just by the outside unmounted. Thanks.

I have been thinking of getting one of these myself. It is a lot less expensive than going full frame. I have an a700 that does all that I need right now. I do have the 17-35G 3.5, but on the aps-c, it is no longer my beloved 17mm wide. Getting the Tokina will save a lot of cash. Seems to me a very good thing. But where are the pics anyone?

Thanks Richard, I knew about the 2 sec MLU. I misread and it sounded to me like there was a mechanical MLU lock like in the old SLR days. Wouldn't that be nice. cheers,

Tim, the a700 has mirror lock up? Have I missed something very important? Let me know, thanks, elijah

Actually, a better search came up with the srt 101 etc series and the XM. Thank you for your guess.
