But, why do people insist that pictures substantially manipulated in PS are a nice "capture"?

Its called Photoshop.

No. It doesn't need a darker sky. There's millions with a dark sky. Its gets old quick.

Almost every photo of this structure is taken from the other side

where there is a parking lot. I did later see a 360 degree panarama

taken fairly close to this spot. There is a salt water cove about

twenty meters behind from where the camera was placed. Its not often

that weeds are used as foreground interest but something was needed

for depth perception.

The timing is excellent. Everyone else that takes this shot gets the whole bear in the shot. There doesn't seem any artistic purpose for not doing so here. As to originality, this image is seen over and over and...

Its better without the stuff on the face. Sometimes attempts to be different don't work especially if a subject features unnatural effects. Shells and sand work on wet feet, not portraits.

I meant to say, why is it rated so well above average FOR ORIGINALITY than all the thousands of other sunset shoreline images here on photo.net?

Lying down on cement? Add a little blood and its a well toned crime scene photo.

At least its not another airplane steaking across a big moon.

The flare is not yoo distracting. The unatural brightness of objects in shadows is. True, the human eye can see shadowed objecets better than film or digital. A little bit of darkening in the shadows would help. Everyone else seems to accept it though.

Aren't these shots fun? Definately a keeper! I don't know if the title is as cool though.

Probably not since the moon was likely not anywhere near this multi-exposured scene.

Your efforts were successful. PS may have had a hand in achieving such results but ultimately you had to capture the image in the right way. A sucessful effort. Were is this place?

Stategically placing birds in images is all the rage on photo.net and probably elsewhere. Having the shadows and lighting of the birds match the rest of the image is not quite as popular for some reason. There's usually somebody who posts congratulatory remarks about capturing the birds ever so perfectly.

 

Obviously this image is heavily enhanced. It is a very nice image. The colors are pleasing and the composition is nice. The twinge of red with the rich light blue is a nice mix. Some might prefer the boat appear to be surrounded by the mist instead of shining so brightly through it.

 

Overall it is nice artwork. I think its time that we come up with a word that describes art that is somewhere between straight photography and graphic art creations. Its very common now. It should be considered it own genre.

This is a cute and innocent image. I intend no offense but there's an unfortunate and unintentional optical illusion in it.

Its a nice photo with interesting features and composition. I didn't rate it as high on the originality scale since a poster of the same set up is already on sale down at the nearby mall.

Excellent artistry. BTW, How much actual photography, as opposed to graphic design, is contained in the image?

This is a striking image. Abstract yet juxtoposed. Simple but powerful. On the technical side, I am curous as to how this image was created.
