There was a thread the other day titled, "Things I'd Like to See Fewer Photos of". Frank 'Oddsocks' added to the list by including pictures of "Rusting car hulks (invariably hand tinted)". Somehow I think photoshopping such images will not make such images seem any more orginal to him.

"This is just ridiculously over rated! I can`t believe I see this on the first page of top rated photos!"
That can be said about many of the top rated images. What's so wrong with this one?

"I always wander how people get such big moon in their photos...?"
You have been here since December of 2003 and don't know about Photoshop?

"Please tell what you think about this this mono chrome image."
Its just like all the others except its not in color.

This is an excellent image. It captures a mood and a scene. The mast serves as the backdrop and setting while the bird gives the setting the impact it needs. The simple abstract dynamic involved is a departure from the cookie cutter images so often seen. I don't know if this is a purposeful shot or a happy accident. The darkness to the lower right actually serves as an well juxtuposed offset to the rest of the grey shy. It is also refreshing to see a image where the flying bird is not there because of Photoshop. If it is, its a rare case of pulling it off sucessfully.

Many responded positively to this image so it seems to have merit. The composition is good. For me the puke green cast and the too obvious addition of the birds is too much.

"Low ratings are useless unless I know why you're rating low. Pls be thoughtful"
Low ratings mean the person giving them does not believe that an image is very orginal or is astehtically pleasing. Its not rocket science. If someone doesn't think an image is original, they believe it has been done quite often and there is not much new to it. If they don't think it is astehtically pleasing, they don't like the way it looks. Its not a very thorough method of evaluation but if it were necessary to be more presise, we wouldn't have the option of having such ratings. The people giving high ratings are no more thoughful than those giving low. If one really cares about the feedback, they would ask for it for any rating, not just the ones they don't like.

Always check the side roads.

The gal in the picture was completely indifferent to my taking the
shot. There's lots of photographers at these ballon events. Maybe
they just ignore us afer awhile. This worked out as she stayed still
while I used the tripod for some longer exposures.

"while me i have only distractors"
Nonsense. You have plenty of compliments posted about your images. Your suggestion to fight with people who did not make flattering comments is also ridiculous. Why bother posting images for comments if one is only going to resist getting the comments. I notice that you invite people to comment on your images and, in at least one case, invite comments that are "good or bad". Yet now you write that you fought with people that made comments you did not agree with.
Saleem's images create much debate and that is good. If someone is only fishing for compliments, they should not post images here because that's not the only response they will get.

I have never visted Italy. Judging by the images I see on photo.net, it is a beautiful country and must be amazing for photgraphers and other artists.

"show them the heart of the Lion"
I laughed when reading this because I was lisening to a song called Heart of a Lion at the time. This is a nice series but I agree it is filled out at this time. Perhaps some sort of finale image can be presented. There are lots of other interesting and creative images in the portfolio. There is plenty of room for more there.

"Ah... looks to be Eagle Lake. My old stomping grounds. You are making me homesick"
Perhaps you have been away too long. This is Jordon Pond.

A rather nice portrait. The model being off center and the leading line of the water works. The outline of the gazebo adds something. The red of the clothing definately works. It seems a little contived but this is a common theme among portraits. No one really sits in a gazebo like that. The sun was harsh and the flash (to the trained eye) only covers the model but it is well done. I like it.

"Honesty is appreciated"
Its amazing that anyone finds a basic fireworks picture like this to be even remotely original.
