  1. Well, it's been just as hot here in Toronto. I don't think it's been below 30C in the last two weeks, with enough humidity to make you wish it were winter! This weather reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode, where the world was moving closer to the sun and everyone was dying from the heat, but in reality it was moving away from the sun and the people were only dreaming it was hot?

By the way, is Hal headed for any other Canadian destinations? Like, say, Toronto???

  2. I agree, that's a good shot with a toy, Larry, nice texture and contrast.

Thanks Glenn, for the nice compliment. I've always aimed for fine art photography. It would be nice to get back into the darkroom, too; I've been away for too long.

  3. Mark, I love your idea, and I've been dying to visit Eastman house for years now. I'd be up for a visit if anyone else is, plus I'd like to try the ferry out.

Jordan, we'll be sure to notify you of our next Toronto get-together!

Mike, I never like pictures of me ;-)

  4. Lester, that sounds like a great idea, and I would be willing to participate, but the only classics I own are Kodaks, like the Hawkeye, Bullseye, etc. I do have a Kiev 4A, but I haven't been able to use it, due to a faulty take-up reel. I'm expecting some new ones soon. I also have an Ikonta 521/16, but am having trouble with the shutter (as you probably know).

Jay, I am fortunate to be a member of the Classic Cameras, Toronto Chapter, along with Mike K., Daniel Iggers, Mihai Costea, and Matt Marek. We got together recently, and had a great time swapping stories, trying out each other's cameras, and drinking a few beers on a bar patio. I am hoping to get together again soon, for a "shoot-out" on the streets of Toronto, which is Matt's idea. I hope you can arrange your own Chapter where you are in Atlanta.

  5. Thanks again guys. As a general rule, Grace is pretty happy, except for that particular moment. I was very lucky to capture that image, because she kept moving in an attempt to discourage me from taking the shot. She and her brother are usually ok with being photographed, but I think W.C. Fields had it right!

Daniel, I do have some B&W film I purchased from J&C Photo, (Fuji NPH 400 and Acros 100) so I'll pop one in and give it a try.

  6. Mike, I'm always willing to accept other people's advice about how my images could be improved, and any suggestions to make them look better. I don't know about you, but I'm not always the best judge of how my own images could be improved, as they always look fine to me. I rely on the opinion of others, to open my eyes to all possibilities. I do like the original image, but I also like how it looks after your adjustments. I guess it depends on your individual taste, right?

  7. I don't know if it's sticking; how would I know? Would it make a funny sound? It does look like it was set on bulb, but I don't believe I ever set it on bulb. It almost looks like I thought I took the picture, thinking the shutter fired, but when I moved the camera, that's when it really fired. Yes, I still have the Nettar, which is great except for missing a knob on top.

  8. Hello all! I'm sure we've all seen the photo posters for sale at

IKEA, but what I was wondering was if anyone knew how one would go

about approaching IKEA with a photo of their own, in the hopes that it

would become a poster for sale at IKEA.

  9. Mike K., this camera belongs to Daniel Iggers. He lent it to me for the summer, and I know absolutely nothing about it. If this one can produce such good pictures, I can only imagine what I could do with a Rollei!!

Mike C., thanks! Grace is my 14 year old daughter, and as you can see, she really doesn't like having her picture taken (but I did anyway!).
