this was shot just after sunset with the primary light-source of the glowing horizon 90 degrees to my left. It is a very strong afterglow, but not direct sunlight.

This is my first shot of Mt. Adams from the small town of Trout Lake,

Washington, where I spent the summer. Submitting this to share with

everyone and for critique on the image as well. Thanks for your time

    and comments/ratings. Dustin.

Yes the light at 4am after drinking was inspiring this night. Mt Adams is one of the least light polluted areas in Washington State.

There is a poem that I wrote to go alont with this photo which I will share.

    Like moonlit dawns silent fade

forever on in light we bathe

confused by the suns scattered rays

we move upon the the path you pave

The trout will jump and birds will sing

fooled once a month to do this thing.

    Thanks for your feedback

Shot while working on the Pacific Crest Trail. This is the NW face of

Mt. Adams in Washington state. 2 combined files to mimic a split ND

filter (which i didnt take to save pack weight). Please rate or

    comment, thank you.

Hi, great image! really nice composition and color. I think it needs a tad more depth of field though, to bring the bottom of the 2 half focused leafs in, as well as to add some sharpness to the petals closest to the lense.

i did consider some differnt crops but i like the subtle curve provided by the foreground bushes and up into the tree on the right were nice for leading the eye around.
  1. i think this would have more impact in black and white. the variation in tone in the fore ground and sky, plus the high contrast where the land is in the middle all would work well in BW. also in color there isnt alot of "color impact".

great shot though and i love the 3 seperate vertical elements (tree, house) and bush).

a fill flash to add some detail to the foreground could possibly be nice, but i like it how it is too. only thing that kinda bugs me is the no horizontal horizon, which could be fixed easy.

very dynamic and colorfull image. only things i would change is the color balance of the wood (maybe a shift towards blue) and a crop slightly tighter on the left side of the image. nice creative shot though and good expouser on the trailing lights.
